Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmeri Asay.
Hi Emmeri, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Emmeri. I am a stay at home mom that loves to work & keep busy while being home with my son. I’ve always loved thrifting & finding amazing clothing items & giving them another life but never thought it would later be something I do for a living. I started looking into reselling back in February of 2022 when my aunt gave me a bunch of her old jeans, hoping I could make some money off of them. So I posted them on Facebook & eBay just to see what would happen & they started selling quickly. I was hooked from that point on!
This has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for me & my family. Most times, I bring my son thrifting with me & he loves it. For example, there was a time when my son & I were playing at a playground & I got a notification that I sold an item for $50 that I bought for $2. I’m reminded in times like that this was the best decision for my career.
I’m hoping that I can be an example to other parents & show them that it’s possible to start a business from scratch with little to no experience. It does take determination, time and an open mind because there is a lot to learn & I have never stopped learning or asking questions. The only way to grow is to be curious.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all! I stopped halfway through last year to take a break & realized I was better off if I kept going so I did! Building inventory can be tough especially with organizing & bookkeeping everything.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a part time reseller & I buy & resell items on ebay for a profit! I like selling clothing & shoes the most! I’m proud of the growth with the mental inventory that I have & the number of brands that my brain has remembered is crazy! Well over 500+ brands.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I love wellness podcasts & wellness books about slowing living & getting the most out of life as you possibly can. By really taking risks & when given opportunities, you gotta take them. I heard a quote recently that has been stuck in my head because it is so true.
“Your next move matters more than your last mistake.”
It’s so true. To keep going matters way more than the bumps in the road. They are inevitable. They are expected. But what those bumps in the road don’t expect is for you to keep going so proving them wrong is the best thing you could do. And always be curious.
