Conversations with Erik Delgado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik Delgado.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Erik Delgado, known artistically as EazyNotey, a hip hop music producer and performing producer-artist.

I started producing beats at the age of 13, inspired by legends like Nujabes, J Dilla, Dr. Dre, The Alchemist, DJ Muggs, and Lil Jon. My early sound was rooted in lofi hip hop, but over time I began to develop my own lane, blending genres and creating a chill, cross-genre hip hop sound that represents my identity.

By 15, I had already made a name for myself in Salt Lake City, producing for local artists and helping shape the local scene with a series of underground hits. Since then, I’ve gone on to open for legendary hip hop artists like DJ Abilities, perform at major events such as the Utah Urban Arts Festival, and continue to push my sound forward through solo instrumental projects, collaborative releases, and live performances that showcase my unique approach to hip hop production.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been plenty of ups and downs along the way, from experiencing homelessness and personal struggles to dealing with losses, betrayal, and being misunderstood. Growing up in communities where success stories were rare, I didn’t have many people to look up to or learn from. But every challenge taught me something valuable and shaped who I am today, both as a person and as an artist. Those experiences now help me connect with people on a deeper level and tell my story through my art.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hip hop music producer who also enjoys blending different styles like pop, reggaeton, dancehall, house, and more, but hip hop has always been my foundation. Early on, I was known as the 15-year-old myth in the local scene for producing standout hip hop tracks at such a young age. Over time, my sound evolved, and now I’m known as The Bump Lord, EazyNotey, for creating beats that hit with feeling and vibe while staying true to the soul of hip hop. What sets me apart is my ability to mix different genres and emotions into one sound, creating something that feels nostalgic yet fresh. I also pull from my heritage as a Chicano (Mexican American) and from the influence of growing up around anime, Japanese culture, and other cultures that shaped my world. All of that naturally finds its way into my sound and aesthetic. What makes me most proud is being able to create every day, grow as an artist, and keep progressing through the journey.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is impacting people and making them genuinely feel good or inspired. That’s what truly fulfills me. My main goal is to inspire millions of kids who connect with my story and what I do, especially those who feel misunderstood or out of place. I want them to believe in themselves more, chase their dreams with confidence, and feel comfortable being who they truly are.
