Check Out Peri Kinder’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peri Kinder.

Peri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been writing my award-winning Life & Laughter column for almost 20 years.

I’ve built a connection with readers who often tell me my articles have made them laugh, or think, or get mad, whatever. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2007 and love studying yoga philosophy. Through Life & Laughter Coaching, I’ve combined the two worlds: Teaching life lessons through coaching and my Life & Laughter podcast and offering yoga classes and workshops.

I’ve learned people really want to take it easier on themselves. My classes, workshops, and podcasts help them do that, by giving them permission to slow down and find what brings them joy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In order to be a good coach, I’ve had to own up to my own thought blockages and self-doubt. I’ve become much more aware of what I think about and the ways I talk to myself. There’s enough in this world that will beat you up, don’t do it to yourself.

I went through the Martha Beck Wayfinder Life Coach training and discovered tools and processes that help me dissolve those blocks and become better friends with myself. I’ve learned how to keep my energy high through meditation, yoga, studying, and doing things that make me happy.

It’s a practice that I come back to again and again, but as I step into my power, I find the choices I make align with who I want to be. I won’t allow others to treat me like I’m insignificant. I’m tired of playing small.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I teach yoga classes and I’ve had many students tell me that my classes have changed their lives. I emphasize the idea that we need to develop a deep love and respect for our bodies – no matter their shape, size, age, or level of flexibility.

My classes are designed to open the body and the mind, with messages of love, kindness, respect, and happiness – and give ourselves permission to truly inhabit our bodies with love. With my Life & Laughter podcast, I interview interesting people and talk about how they’ve learned to move away from fear and toward love. I share life lessons with my listeners and my podcast is growing fast!

I teach yoga and improv workshops, do public speaking engagements, offer life coaching and meditation courses. I’m in the process of creating online yoga courses that incorporate movement with mindfulness, journaling, and connection. I also have a book, Life & Laughter: A Compilation of Humor columns, based on the first 10 years of my column.

A second book is in the works!

What are your plans for the future?
As I move forward, my plans are to create a deeper connection with my listeners, readers, and yoga students.

I’ll continue to grow my podcast and I’ll start offering my online yoga courses, hopefully within the next six months. I’ll also be starting a monthly book club (focused on self-help books) with its own interactive group.

I’ll continue with my yoga classes and workshops, and begin to expand those workshops to different parts of the state and country.
