Check Out Sadie Gundersen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie Gundersen.

Hi Sadie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I became a Master Esthetician in 2017. I immediately knew that skin was something I was passionate about. Right out of school I began to invest in my own equipment because I always knew that I wanted to have my own place, and do esthetics in the way that I wanted. In 2019 I became intrigued with many skin services and injectables that could only be performed by a Registered Nurse. I decided that I didn’t want to feel held back anymore and I decided to go to nursing school. Nursing school was an amazing experience. I learned so many things, but my love for skin remained.

As soon as I was licensed as a Registered Nurse I was enrolled in an injection certification class and felt like my dream had come true. Over this last year, I have grown into myself as a Master Esthetician and an Injector. I know now that I can do both and can confidently provide my clients with their desired results. While I was injecting at a spa and then running my own esthetics business, I decided that I wanted to merge the two. After multiple business meetings, some help from amazing people, and a lot of education, Elevate Beauty was born and my life has changed for the better since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always struggles in life. The road to Elevate Beauty has definitely been bumpy. While I was enrolled in nursing school and managing my esthetics business, my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2020. It was during the peak of COVID so receiving the care he needed was actually quite difficult. We tried our best to continue to pursue our dreams. Mine was finishing nursing school and he was applying to dental school.

He finally had the surgery he needed and was able to recover and move forward. The stress of his diagnosis during that time hindered my mental health. However, I was able to persevere and complete my degree. The pressures of school, home life, working an office job, and managing my personal esthetics business were a lot. But all of those things have helped me to get where I am today and I could not be more grateful.

Thanks so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been a Master Esthetician for five years. I offer a variety of skin care treatments. Some include microneedling and chemical peels. Hydrafacial, microdermabrasion, and dermaplaning. I am all about the overall health of your skin and tackling your skin concerns at an early age so they are easier to treat. I love offering preventative treatments and educating my clients on all things skin.

With my nursing license, I can offer botox and dermal fillers. I’m a nurse and an esthetician. Because of this, I have a comprehensive knowledge of the face and skin and can help people achieve their skin goals via multiple routes. I am realistic with my clients and can tell them exactly what will and what won’t work for their specific skin concerns.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think for me, a determination is the most important characteristic of my success. Life has tried to knock me down over and over, and even though it got really hard I was determined and continued on. Even now in the early stages of running a business, it can totally get scary and overwhelming but I am here for it! Come what may and love it.

Every challenge can bring a new opportunity to learn, you just have to stick around to see. Maybe it’s a little bit of stubbornness that has gotten me this far, but so be it. I have overcome a lot of things and at the end of the day, it’s been the mindset that has kept me going. You believe the things you tell yourself, so you might as well tell yourself how awesome you are!
