Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Marie Stirland.
Hi Anne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a creative mind and an eye for color. Every couple of weeks, I’d rearrange furniture (even in my dorm room) or find a new space that needed freshening up. But I never acted on that, beyond my own sphere of influence.
Once I was married and had my own home to free reign design (with a bearded redhead’s input/commentary, I started unleashing my skills and dreams. Peel and Stick was a field where I could redesign every so often to my heart’s content without major overhaul or ultra emptying of our savings. It was an art form I enjoyed and a design element that brought personality to every surface possible.
Slowly my style took shape. Separate from each other, two design friends told me I should start my own business. As I thought about it, I realized if I didn’t act on that dream now, I never would. So, with a full-time day job, 2 kids under 3, and a drive I started this company. It’ll continue to grow and add design services alongside my own home as I add throw pillows, feature walls, and my kids’ fingerprints.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
So far so good but also slow going. A few friends were already entertaining the idea of putting Peel&Stick Wallpaper in their homes, but we’re terrified of messing it all up. Seeing my business launch catapulted those projects into my lap so they could simply enjoy the final product without the stress.
Getting the word out has been a new adventure. Navigating social media advertising, gathering portfolio projects so outside clients would consider hiring me, and just getting my name out there is almost a full-time job on its own.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Peel and Stick Wallpaper and accent walls. Just being able to say I’m the “1st Peel and Stick Wallpaper installation service” in Utah (and potentially the whole US is a really neat experience with a great niche among traditional wallpaper installation businesses. To stand among giants and pioneer a different material is such a rewarding journey.
What matters most to you?
Personalizing to the client. Not just recreating a Pinterest image or blogger’s dream home. Working with the client to find WHAT it is they like about an inspirational photo and making that vision a reality for THEM. Making interior design services accessible to everyone; everyone should feel they have the ultimate dream home.
