Daily Inspiration: Meet Lois Kim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lois Kim

Hi Lois, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Lois Kim, but I am also known on NABI on the internet. I am currently working as a pharmacist, but outside of my pharmacy career, I am a creative artist specializing in music, photography, modeling, and more!

When I was 5-years-old, I took singing and piano lessons from the Suzuki Association of Utah, and I developed my strong passion for music. However, I valued finding a stable career first, which is why I became interested in becoming a pharmacist. I had a wonderful opportunity to job shadow a pharmacy manager when I was 13-years-old, and I enjoyed my job shadow so much that I decided to work my hardest to become a pharmacist as soon as possible. After 6 long years of undergrad and pharmacy school, I finally graduated with my Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2022.

During my journey of becoming a pharmacist, I was able to continue my passion for music by making song covers on YouTube. I discovered there was a whole online singing community dedicated for people who made song covers, and I was able to learn how to make my own song covers because of the community. I have worked with many talented artists from all around the world, and I’ve even performed live for a few events. I love trying new things which is why I eventually developed my love for other creative arts as well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I can’t count how many obstacles I’ve faced to get to where I am today. Although, I knew exactly what I wanted to do at a young age, I was always questioning myself and didn’t have a lot of confidence. Whenever my plans for the future didn’t work out, I would be very hard on myself for not following my exact plans. I also overworked myself often trying to balance school, work and my hobbies.

I actual overcame my “quarter life crisis” recently, and although, it was a painful journey, I learned many important things:
1. Things happen for a reason, and it’s okay for things not to go according to plan.
2. Surround yourself with loved ones who will always support and care about you.
3. Always love yourself, because the person you see in the mirror will be there forever.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Although, I specialize in different creative arts, I am mostly known for my song covers on YouTube. I haven’t been that active recently due to working as a full-time pharmacist, but I still continue providing vocals for music producers and composers from all around the world. I’m very proud that I have participated in many wonderful collaborations, and I love being able to help others create music with my vocals. I mostly sing in English, Korean, and Japanese, but I have been practicing singing in other languages to provide more languages for my collaborators.

I do both modeling and photography, because I love being on both sides of the camera. I have met so many wonderful people throughout this journey, and I love being able to create unique concepts with different photographers. I also cosplay during my spare time, since I enjoy bringing cute and fun characters to life!
