Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Petersen.
Hi Zach, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In the context of me as an artist; sometimes I feel that everything that I went through in life, that the only way I can relate to the world is through my art. I feel like I bridge a lot of communication gaps. I had to make a decision after some physical injuries that took me out of my pursuit of professional sport. I had a lot to process from my life that only came out of writing cyphers and playing my guitar. I’ve met a lot of great and talented people I can relate to along the way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I can say confidently that I have overcome some significant hurdles in life. As a person, athlete, artist, coach. Healing from serious injuries, to home life trauma.
I hold an incredible amount of gratitude for what I do have. I recognize that my struggles have molded a certain character I posses today.
I’m very open about the hardships I’ve overcome to connect to my audience. Briefly giving in to a context of where I’m from. I grew up in a home where my dad left state at the age of 7, and the house I lived in battled addiction. My music reflects a solo journey as an artist and producer. One that represents that maybe a broken heart can be a wholesome heart. To let others know that they have value, even if life is ugly.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My biggest passion is music. I’ve defined my goals and what my heart desires, and right after family, it’s music. I’ve played hundreds of gigs over the past decade and now producing. Streaming on platforms such as Spotify/Apple/Youtube.
I’m currently working at Weber State University as a coach in JiuJitsu/Kickboxing/Self Defense. Something that connects me to the community, and I’m very passionate about teaching.
Over the past few years I’ve developed a foundation called “Project Voice” where we take our sales from merchandise, music distribution, and event contributions for charitable efforts locally and abroad.
We are helping to feed almost 100 children in Uganda every month. Working with families in the Philippines, and actively working to help youth locally.
You can find project Voice on Facebook where we have generated the support of 1.5k local members to get further involved
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I firstly wanted to thank anyone that has taken the time to listen to my story, and help me along my path to create some impact in life. If anyone would be so inclined to follow me on Spotify, YouTube, or Music. They can find me simply through my name “Zach Petersen”
Thanks for all the consideration and efforts on your part to help make the dream happen.
