Today we’d like to introduce you to Eumir Reyes.
Hi Eumir, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started ProLine Window Cleaning in 2012. I previously worked in a warehouse lifting box of food. I worked from 3 pm to 6 am, six days a week, and honestly, I was exhausted and had no time to spend with my family. I decided I wanted to start a business that allowed me to have more freedom and control of my time.
It was not easy at first. I had no knowledge about the business, I just wanted to make money. It was difficult in the beginning because there was a lot of competition, but slowly I started getting my first customers by knocking on doors. I did not know how to charge at that time and basically, I gave away my work. Gradually I began to study business at the Pete Zuaso Business Center. I gained a lot of knowledge which enabled me to obtain more business clients.
In 2016, someone asked me if I knew anyone who cleaned windows. I told him that it was a service I provided and that I could clean his windows. Honestly, it was a good experience because the job turned out horrible, he was really upset with me and insulted me my pride and confidence took a big hit. I told myself that I had to do something to make sure that never happened to me again.
I started googling classes for window cleaning and I found a course in Compton, California. I went immediately and I had no idea it would be such a great opportunity. I got my license to hang on the ropes which enabled me to clean the windows of tall commercial buildings. This license has really helped me a lot, and over time I have gained a lot of experience and recognition from many people. Now came another obstacle, looking for clients to clean windows for.
One day, I told one of my clients who had about six restaurants at the time, that I had a window cleaning business. He said yes he’d work with me, but he didn’t tell me when or where to start working. In less than a month, one of his supervisors called me and gave me the opportunity to service them.
I am extremely grateful to Kimp and Kalani because thanks to them, I obtained a lot more work and also I started doing my own sales and getting recommendations. I am now covering the entire state of Utah from Providence to St. George. I also have service contracts in Idaho.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been easy at all. There have been many difficulties and challenges along the way. As a result of the recent pandemic, everything has changed, but I think these changes have helped us to rebuild and redirect ourselves. The shortage of personnel to work with has been the most difficult challenge for me.
I have also dealt with some personal issues in my life, but fortunately, I have come out ahead.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We offer professional window and cleaning services, family-owned. Window cleaning service, commercial & residential, solar panel cleaning, rain gutter cleaning and power washing.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in good or bad luck. What I do believe in are opportunities and that we all have a mission in this life. When I am presented with an opportunity to do something different, I simply do it and give it my all and if I fail, I truly don’t have any regrets because at least I tried.
