Life & Work with Juan Castaneda of Millcreek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Castaneda.

Hi Juan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I studied audiovisual production in my birth country, Colombia, and had the experience of working for TV series doing still photography. Then I went to study documentary photography in Argentina, where I have been developing different audiovisual projects such as documentaries, music videos, and lately, portrait photography here in Utah.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy path since starting over in each country where I have lived makes it a bit difficult to generate new contacts so that they know your work and can spread it and get to know the specific market of each place.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been working on audiovisual projects in general, although recently I’ve specialized in music videos and portrait photography. I have another project inspired by the nature of Utah, featuring landscape photography. I think I’ve become known for portraits and audiovisual projects with music.I’m proud that I’ve been able to pursue my artistic work while simultaneously being a single father, where things often get complicated without family or support, but you always get ahead. With a positive attitude and love, everything is possible.I think I stand out for having a perspective that comes from observing other realities as a Latino, and the sensitivity to perceive something new and special in the ordinary or common and to value everything even more.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is being able to have health and energy to be able to do what makes you happy in life.
