Life & Work with Michelle Hauck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Hauck.

Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have always loved to travel, I can’t wait to go on vacation. All of my co-workers, family, and friends are always asking me the best place to stay, or if I could find them a great deal on airfare so I thought hey why don’t I blog/post about my travels?

So that started Travelingshells. I came up with the name as I love to travel, I love seashells, and some of my family members call me Shell. I started just a year or two before covid, and when covid hit the traveling stopped as we all know.

I am trying to get some trips planned so I can keep adding to my content. I will retire from my full-time job in about 6 years and I plan on doing something bigger in the travel industry!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With Covid, it made it hard to travel to new destinations to create new content.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
This is kind of a hard question. I have worked for the state government for 24 years. It’s not exciting like traveling is.

In my day job, I have worked in a few different areas within state government. I do not really have a specialty per Say. I help citizens who need help with navigating certain programs.

Before covid, I was good with using up all my vacation leave as long as I got to go somewhere.

What’s next?
I have 6 years left with my full time job until I can retire. I will still have to work based on my age at that time so I will be looking for something in the travel world for my next line of work.

I hope to just keep going on great vacations, and help my followers decide either what destinations, accommodations, or experiences sound like a good fit to or what they want to go experience!
