Meet Drew Coronel of AutoIntellect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Coronel.

Hi Drew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as a sales rep in the automotive industry in Southern California, in 1994 and worked my way up thru the industry over the last 27 years. My career spans the following Sales Rep from 1994-1998, Finance from 1999-2003, Sales Manager from 2004-2006, General Sales Manager from 2006-2011, General Manager from 2012-2017, VP from 2017-2020, Exec VP from 2020-2021 and now as President/CEO of AutoIntellect.

I have always disliked the process of how sales is done in an automotive dealership and always thought there was a better way. When the pandemic started in 2020, I was in California managing a dealership when the sales dept for automotive dealerships were closed due to not being considered an “essential business”. During that time, I decided we should leave the state of California. When I arrived out here, I saw the opportunity to pursue my passion for Automotive but to put a “twist” on it. That is when I had the idea to start AutoIntellect, and bring something new to the auto industry in Utah.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes, we had some struggles, some of them being and has been finding good dealer partners to work with. B/C of AutoIntellect’s transparency and how model our business, it makes it really easy for clients to acquire and purchase a vehicle. We are disrupting the automotive industry in Utah and some dealerships do not like it. That being said, b/c of my relations in California, we have been able to think outside the box and give our clients the best experience ever when buying a new car or truck.

We’ve been impressed with AutoIntellect, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Don’t you hate the back-and-forth, the “let me talk to my manager?” How about “if I could do this, would you buy now?” Or our favorite, “let’s fill out some paperwork so my manager knows you’re serious.”

Well that’s where we come in. We take that equation out. Better yet, you don’t even need to speak to the dealer. We will do all of that for you. Once you approve your deal and are completely satisfied with all the terms, we pick up the vehicle of your choice and have it delivered to our office, where you will sign your paperwork with one of our agents and take delivery. That’s it! NO back and forth, NO waiting two hours to sign paperwork.

It’s just that simple…

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Automotive will go predominately online, and electric. It’s the way of the future, we want to be on the cutting edge. Of course, we want to provide the best, most transparent and easiest process. Many will adapt but a great majority will take time and used vehicles will not go away. We want to be there every step of the way. Helping people buy vehicles in any way we can!
