Meet Jocelyn Ocampo Trujillo of Jocelyn Ocampo Utah Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn Ocampo Trujillo

Hi Jocelyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In high school, like many students, I was asked the familiar question, “What do you want to do after you graduate?” At the time, I had a few ideas, but I wasn’t entirely sure. One path was medicine—I had considered pursuing a career in nursing—but my other passion was business and entrepreneurship. I was drawn to the idea of starting my own business, and real estate, in particular, always intrigued me. It felt like a field that combined entrepreneurial spirit with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. The decision to pursue real estate became even clearer to me after reflecting on my family’s own struggles with housing. I witnessed firsthand the challenges my family faced when we were looking for a home, and how our real estate agent guided us through a difficult time. That experience inspired me. I realized that I, too, could help families find not just a house, but a place to call home. What I love most about real estate is the opportunity to help families at such an important moment in their lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to see their eyes light up on closing day, knowing I’ve played a part in making their dream a reality. There’s no better feeling than handing over the keys to someone’s forever home. In 2024, I took the leap and earned my real estate license. Since then, I’ve been working to not only hone my skills in the industry but also to continue the legacy of helping people navigate one of the most important decisions of their lives. Real estate is a valuable commodity, and I feel privileged to be part of such an impactful field. I’m excited for what the future holds and grateful for the journey that’s brought me here.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Real estate is far from an easy career—it’s a make-or-break path where every decision counts, and there have definitely been moments where the pressure felt overwhelming. It’s a competitive and fast-paced industry, and there have been times when I questioned my own abilities. That said, despite the challenges and obstacles along the way, the journey has been incredibly rewarding. The greatest part of it has been the support I’ve received from my mentors, family, friends, and the many individuals who’ve helped guide me. Their belief in me has been invaluable, and their encouragement has truly been the cornerstone of my success.

There were moments when the road felt especially tough—early on, when things didn’t go as planned, or when deals fell through. Those experiences forced me to grow and be more resilient, but they were also humbling. One of the biggest challenges I faced was dealing with imposter syndrome. There were times I found myself questioning my own abilities and those doubts were often paralyzing, especially as I started out and had to prove myself in a highly competitive field. But I’ve learned over time that growth comes from pushing through these doubts. I’ve learned to lean heavily on my support system—whether it’s my family, mentors, or friends who keep me grounded. I also rely on my faith in God, which has been a guiding force. I know that with His guidance and strength, I can overcome challenges and achieve things that go beyond my own limitations.

Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and I’ve found strength in embracing the process of growth, and with each challenge, I’ve become more confident in my abilities. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far, but I also recognize that the journey is ongoing. Every day, I’m learning something new—whether it’s a lesson in patience, time management, negotiation, or even in managing my own expectations. In the end, it’s not about the setbacks; it’s about how you rise above them. I’ve learned to trust the process, trust in myself, and trust in the people around me. And I know that, with the guidance of those who believe in me and the strength of my faith, I’m capable of achieving much more in this journey.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe the most important quality for my success is resilience. Real estate is full of challenges, and setbacks are inevitable. What matters most is how you respond to them. Being able to bounce back from disappointments, adapt to changing circumstances, and stay focused on the bigger picture has been essential in navigating the ups and downs of the industry. But beyond resilience, I’d say empathy, trust, and being an attentive listener are equally crucial. In real estate, you’re not just helping clients make a transaction; you’re guiding them through one of the most significant decisions of their lives. Understanding their needs, concerns, and desires helps build a strong foundation of trust. The ability to truly listen and connect with people has been key in forming lasting relationships and delivering results that align with their goals. Charisma also plays a role—it’s not just about knowledge, but about making people feel comfortable and confident in your abilities. I believe that when you bring a positive, engaging energy to every interaction, it helps put clients at ease and fosters a sense of partnership. These qualities, combined with a commitment to continuous learning, have been at the heart of my success.
