Rising Stars: Meet Sarah Wells

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Wells.

Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I had my last baby in 2018 and I was looking for something to call mine again. I have two older children and then had another 10 years later, I was working part-time remotely and loved it.

Then when the next one came I stopped working but felt like I had lost part of myself. I started a little blog and took lots of classes. I realized my posts about holidays, traditions and parties were popular so I started to look into event planning. I took more classes and fell in love with it all.

I officially called myself an event planner in May 2019. I have been moving forward with that purpose and have truly found joy and fulfillment in it. I morphed more into weddings since 2020. I love weddings.

This year, I currently have 12 weddings booked and I am hoping to start booking for 2023.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to being an entrepreneur is never easy. It is not always smooth, but it is so rewarding. Being a service-based business means I am my business. I have had to learn a few important lessons.

One of the hardest things is to say no. Saying no to the wrong client, or pricing yourself to have them decide on a different route. I want to have a business, but I also want to work with people who inspire me in what I do.

Next, admit when you have made a mistake. This is so hard, but also so rewarding. I had a client for an event where they wanted to do a run-through and I was unaware, we showed up to view the space, and the run-through started. I had to then talk to the person in charge of the venue and go to my client and say since we haven’t paid for this time we need to leave.

That night was a hard phone call where I told them I would cover any charges the venue gave because I hadn’t scheduled a run-through. My clients are the greatest and said there were no hard feelings and they would take care of anything that came up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the proud owner of Cultivate with Sarah. I specialize in event & wedding coordination. The organization has been key to my whole life. I am the most color-coordinated, scheduled, and reliable person you will meet.

I am most proud of setting a goal for the number of weddings or events I want to do and reaching it. I am proud to say I have moved forward with the unknown and found success. And support. All of my tribe supports me.

People pick Cultivate with Sarah because they know everything will be handled and organized on time. I am able to set a workflow in place so I can get everything done on time for each of my events. I have a way of getting the right people in the right place at the right time for each event to run on time, smoothly, and efficiently.

I allow my clients to make the decisions with my help and thoughts, but in the end, it is their choice. I am here to give each of my clients what they want and need.
