Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie González
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Stephanie Gonzalez, better known on the networks as Bariatric Steph (@stecagonzalez), Venezuelan by birth, native of the land of the beloved Sun.
I will tell you something about my past, since I was very little I always had the illusion of seeing myself like the barbies I played with, on many occasions I asked my mother why they were different from me or I was different from them, which with much love she hugged me and told me that I was more beautiful, but I always grew up with that curiosity to have a visually attractive body, as I reached my adult age I fought in many ways against my overweight, for me it was a little difficult to deal every morning and look in the mirror and not understand that even though I was on diets and denied myself many foods, which we all know are delicious, it was very difficult for me to lose those extra pounds, of course, I always had the support of my loved ones, which made me understand that no matter how I looked they would always have unconditional love for me.
When I arrived in this beautiful country and had those culinary experiences that I loved, my measurements began to become disproportionate, I already felt sick and began to suffer from high blood pressure, depression, sleep apnea, insulin resistance, tasks as simple as tying my shoelaces, climbing stairs was a nightmare, of course I have always had love for myself and acceptance was something I never lost.
By doing a little research, I got a surgery that for me is miraculous, I did a little more research, I made several consultations with doctors and I was able to find a doctor who gave me the confidence for my BARIATRIC SURGERY, believe me that the day I made the decision I was born again.
The beginning of this surgery is something strong, because limiting the body from what it is already accustomed to is a task for warriors, but there is nothing that cannot be done with discipline and of course with the help of surgery.
Seeing myself go down in sizes and go from XL to XS is something I never thought would happen in my life, feeling full of energy every day, healthy, sleeping better and no longer having the pathologies I had in the past.
Nowadays I try to promote healthy eating and good living through my social networks so that many who are like me can feel like I am today.
My dream is to help many people, because I found that this is my great passion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the biggest struggle has been with myself, because being overweight is an enemy that few people know it is.
I don’t want to sound egocentric, but today I feel like a better person than I was in the past. And of course I have fought hard to achieve this great change.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Through my social media, I help people find the path to a healthy life, I prepare recipes, I give them tips and information about my bariatric surgery. I really love this work that I do through this medium and it is my true passion.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I would say that my main mentor has been my own experience on the path of my bariatric surgery.
Reading and researching about a healthy life has also helped me a lot.
