Meet Jacob Wilson of Snider Bros. Meats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Wilson

Hi Jacob, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We take immense pride in our heritage—a legacy that spans six generations. Our family’s journey began in 1920’s in the heart of Texas and has since traversed across the Coastal West, leaving a trail of renowned butcheries and meat markets.
In 1992, Amy and Will continued the tradition, opening our current location in Salt Lake City. Their love story, rooted in the humble beginnings of Will’s grandpa’s shop in Ogden where they met, epitomizes the essence of our family ethos. Through their unwavering dedication and relentless work ethic, we’ve earned the esteemed title of Utah’s Best Meat Market and Butcher.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It took Will and Amy three years to officially make a profit when the shop was first opened in 1992.

The pandemic brought with it a myriad of challenges, everything from navigating shortages to adapting to state and federal pandemic requirements, to efforts to remain stocked during all of the panic buying.

We’ve been impressed with Snider Bros. Meats, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Snider Bros. Meats is committed to its three pillars, Quality, Service and Selection. We are committed to quality, from every cut that the butchers make to each cordon bleu we put in the case we work to ensure that each bite is as tasty as the last. Our team is service oriented, quality service is one of the top mentioned qualities of our business in our reviews. We offer a wide range of services like, custom cutting, complimentary seasoning, marinating and custom batches of sausages. Lastly our selection is huge. We have everything from pork butt to authentic Japanese A5 wagyu.

From the moment you enter through the door at Snider’s you feel like you are a part of the family. We are proud to be a six generation business and our goal is continue to the next generation.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
As we have grown in the business some of the most valuable lessons have been passed down from one generation to the next. We are not just talking about the nitty gritty how to file taxes type of knowledge but the kind that really nurtures the soul of the business. Things like learning how to better interact with out amazing customers, how to support and encourage our crew and most importantly how to maintain a passion for what it is we do.
