Meet Kaylee Fisher of Green Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylee Fisher

Hi Kaylee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started woodburning as a fun pastime during college, exploring various artistic mediums. Over time, I began posting my woodburning pieces on social media, which attracted attention from people interested in purchasing my work. Encouraged by their support, I decided to pursue it more seriously. Now, six years later, what began as a hobby has grown into a full-time career in woodburning, where I continue to develop my craft and share my art with a wider audience.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. For the first four years, I worked from home, selling art online through Etsy and doing well. However, personal circumstances forced me to move, which impacted my business significantly. I had to take on various part-time jobs, including cleaning vacation rentals, working at a daycare, doing DoorDash, and donating plasma to support my business and cover growing expenses. Frequent moves in the last three years have also disrupted my work, as I rely on my home space for creating art.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in woodburning, or pyrography art, with a focus on botanical designs and a modern take on Art Nouveau. I’m known for my delicate shading and intricate designs, which give my pieces a distinctive look that sets them apart from other woodburning artists. One of my proudest achievements is the opportunity to teach workshops in the Caribbean, allowing me to travel and share my craft. These unique experiences and the recognition of my detailed work are what truly distinguish my art.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
It might surprise people to know that the last couple of years have been the hardest of my life, filled with deep struggles. Despite these challenges, my career has blossomed into something I never imagined. However, I don’t often share these struggles publicly, which might come as a surprise to those familiar with my work.
