Check Out Julio Castro Pardo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julio Castro Pardo

Hi Julio, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Julio Castro and I am currently a professional photographer living in a small town in the northwest of Spain. I had never felt any affinity with the artistic and photographic world, however, after a trip along the American West Coast and having seen truly incredible places and landscapes, I became interested in capturing all the beauty and impression that those places left on me with photographs.
I began to train in daytime and nighttime landscape photography, gradually improving my camera skills. I also developed a great interest in continuing to travel and discover places as incredible and exciting as I had enjoyed on that first trip through the American West. Thanks to that, I have been able to see such incredible places as the Northern Lights in Iceland and Norway, Orangutans in their natural habitat in Indonesia, incredible mountains and lakes in Canada and of course I have returned up to 5 more times to that West Coast that left such a mark on me.
Thanks to the great improvement I had in my photographs, I began to win photography competitions all over the world with prizes in such important competitions as the Sony World Photography Awards, Siena Photography Awards, International Photography Awards and more.
Shortly after, I embarked on the professional world of photography, starting to give classes and training to other people who were passionate about photography and I also started working as a photography guide for a Spanish company that offers photographic trips.
Thanks to this, I have been able to meet and guide people from all over the world, showing and teaching them about the incredible places we have on our planet that we must preserve and care for so that future generations can enjoy it in the same way that we can still do so today.
Currently I continue to dedicate myself to training and photography guiding part-time, always looking for new places that continue to awaken that spark that was born with my first trip through the American West.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For me, this world has served as a hobby rather than a job, so it is a very important way to escape and disconnect from my daily life.
Most of the obstacles I have encountered are those I put on myself, since sometimes I am unable to improve the quality of my photographs and make them reflect what I want, so sometimes I feel frustrated.
However, over time, I see that the important thing is not to take the best photo, but that I feel comfortable and enjoy what I do, regardless of whether my photos are better or worse than other people’s.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As I have already told you, I am specialized in daytime and nighttime landscape photography. I am especially known for my nighttime photographs, especially those where the Milky Way makes its appearance. The most interesting thing about nighttime photography is that thanks to my camera I am able to capture things that are really there, but the limitations of our eyes mean that we are not able to see them correctly. This is something truly magical.
I have always been someone with low self-esteem and I feel proud to have managed to be recognized in a world like photography that is full of photographers with a talent that could seem unattainable.

What makes you happy?
There are many things that make me happy, family, friends… but what I like most is sharing trips and unique moments with them, taking back memories of those moments both in my head and in my camera.
