Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Parra
Hi Ryan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
“Sandia Consultants” was founded based on my experiences as an elected official, working in the business sector, and working with international organizations promoting sustainable development.
After working as an elected official and advocate for business organizations across the State of New Mexico, I quickly realized that between the flurry of registrations, taxation, networking, and administration requirements, most new owners find themselves overwhelmed.
With that, my company idea was born: “The goal was to provide business owners with someone who can help with their administration needs during the startup period. By doing this, it allows the business owner the ability to dedicate his or her time to the business, allowing it a better chance to succeed long term.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every journey has its challenges, and my business has been no exception. There have been ups and downs, obstacles to overcome, and lessons to learn, but through resilience, passion, and unwavering dedication, I’ve built something meaningful.
Some hard, but rewarding lessons I have had over the years include:
July 2021, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Uganda, working with the United Nations and Rotary International to teach business skills to local entrepreneurs. That experience reinforced my belief in the power of small businesses and the impact they have on communities. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of helping over two dozen businesses globally, guiding them through their own challenges and growth.
Before diving into business, I spent five years in politics, navigating high-pressure environments and overcoming obstacles that strengthened my leadership and problem-solving skills. Each of these experiences has shaped my journey, proving that perseverance leads to success.
Every challenge has only fueled my drive to grow, and I’m excited for the future—ready to support even more small businesses and make a lasting impact!
We’ve been impressed with Sandia Consultants, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
“Sandia Consultants” is a Business, Education, and Economic consulting group. Our business specializes in helping small business owners who are looking to start their own business. Our company uses our knowledge of Business, Economics, and Government agencies to help aspiring entrepreneurs go from concept to reality.
Unlike other businesses who charge service fees and hourly rates, we are determined to keep the costs as low as possible to help aspiring business owners reduce costs during the startup phase. Instead of asking for large upfront payments, we base our income on future growth – by signing with us, our partners provide us a small percentage of their profits long term. This means our clients can access our services for free or a few hundred dollars at the start, and we get paid after their business is established.
With this concept in mind, the only way we can be successful is by making sure each of our clients is successful. Also, we have access and connections with several wholesale companies, which allows us to buy products at far cheaper rates than retail. This allows our clients to purchase the products they need for cheaper prices, saving them money early on in the startup phase.
Our group is made up of all of our clients working together to achieve one goal – “Business Sustainability”. The point of the group is to connect our clients with each other when services would be mutually beneficial. This allows both parties access to quality services at a discount and leads to highly sustainable business models.

“We connect the farmers with restaurateurs who need their products. We connect party planners with photographers. If a business expresses the desire for a certain product, we will find businesses in the group that can offer them”.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Life is all about taking risks and I encourage everyone to take risks, big or small, because you never know what will happen!
There are two quotes I personally believe that everyone should live by.

“Never accept the world as it appears to be, dare to see it for what it could be.”
