Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Schmidt
Hi Jordan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been making videos on the internet since 2014. I used to make gaming content specifically on call of duty but lost interest on video game content in 2019. I moved to California for a few months to do a marketing internship with stance socks. During my time there Tik Tok started to gain a bit of popularity and I noticed some videos about Utah on my for you page so I made a few videos for fun and my second video ever had 100,000 views in a day so that sparked an idea. I figured since I was coming back to Utah I would try making that type of content and after 2 months I gained 10,000 followers and by June 2020 I had 100,000 followers and have been doing Utah themed content since on both Tik Tok and IG
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. There have been plenty of ups and downs over the years. Some of the struggles that I’ve faced is burnout, threats of Tik Tok being banned and a lot of imposter syndrome.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make a lot of short form content revolving about all things Utah from food, to the culture to hikes. Literally everything Utah I have covered in my career.
The thing I’m most proud of is putting Utah on the map in terms of content. I was the first person on Tik Tok to really go all in on Utah content and I feel as though I am a trendsetter for that.
Something that sets me apart from everyone else in this specific niche is I do everything. Most people stick to one thing which is great but for me I never wanted to box myself in to one specific type of content for Utah
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m pretty open to a lot of proposals when it comes to collaboration. If it makes sense to me and my brand then I’m usually on board.
