

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Schutt
Evan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As someone who grew up around the dinner table, I’ve always recognized the importance of good cooking and had a deep love for food. I love what it represents; gathering, family, creativity, nourishment, unity, common ground, you name it. I am a native New Yorker, and found my way to Salt Lake City, Utah in 2007. I guess you could say that’s where my culinary journey really began.
I started working in restaurants over 15 years ago, and held just about every position out there. Over the years, I’ve embarked on many ventures, including catering, backcountry endeavors, private dinners & events, even international work. Through my experiences, I discovered being a caterer and private chef is where I fit in most in this world. A couple years ago, I was contacted by clients I’ve catered for in the past to provide my services once again. This was the ultimate catalyst and push for me to fully dive in, and hence, Peak Season Catering was born!
As time goes on and this business grows, I feel more and more that I’ve found my calling in the culinary world. The satisfaction of working with clients to curate amazing experiences really results in unparalleled satisfaction for all parties involved. I am constantly learning and honing my craft, and looking forward to more and more growth.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would not describe this path as being the smoothest road, however it is absolutely a road very fulfilling and worthwhile. Just like anything worth doing, starting and running a small business has come with countless challenges. Many foreseen, coupled with many more unpredictable. Long hours of very hard work mandatory must nearly at all times these days. Being a small business owner/head chef not only keeps me on my toes but also keeps me in a constant state of awe at what I am able to accomplish. Every hurdle presents a new challenge to overcome.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to choose one characteristic most important to my success, I would have to say it’s the desire to always keep improving. There’s so much to learn and experience, and through hard work and dedication, I am constantly growing and progressing on this path, career-wise and in life simultaneously. I’ve been afforded many amazing experiences thus far, and love the prospect of what’s to come.
