Exploring Life & Business with Breanna Panter Halverson of BRE HEALTHY

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanna Panter Halverson

Hi Breanna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Thank you so much, Voyage Utah, for this opportunity! My name is Breanna Panter Halverson—a baccalaureate-registered nurse, farm momma, and the writer and editor behind BRE HEALTHY. BRE HEALTHY is a wellness brand dedicated to promoting whole-family wellness and healthy country living. I’m excited to share my journey and the story behind BRE HEALTHY with you.

From a young age, I had a deep-rooted desire to care for my loved ones. My mother often noticed my natural inclination toward looking after my younger sisters and cousins, which eventually led me to pursue a career in nursing. Inspired by the confidence, competence, and compassion of my mother and grandmother—both registered nurses—I knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps.

While still in high school, I became a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and started working in geriatric care. This role gave me hands-on experience assisting patients with daily needs and solidified my passion for promoting health. After high school, I earned college credits toward my nursing degree while continuing to work as a nursing assistant. I was accepted into nursing school on my first application and passed the exam to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Soon after, I transitioned into a registered nurse (RN) role in the medical/oncology department of a regional hospital after passing my RN exam.

Balancing nursing school, clinical rotations, and work was challenging—long hours and irregular schedules took a toll on my health. I experienced firsthand how poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and stress could negatively impact overall well-being. These struggles taught me the importance of prioritizing self-care, nutrition, and stress management—insights that later shaped my approach to wellness and holistic health.

While working as a hospital RN, I pursued my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. At six months pregnant with my first child, I graduated summa cum laude. My education opened doors for leadership roles, including mentoring nursing students, serving on the Clinical Excellence Committee, and participating in Infection Control initiatives. However, after giving birth to my daughter, I realized my demanding work schedule no longer aligned with my family’s needs. Grateful for the opportunity, I decided to transition into full-time motherhood.

Even after stepping away from full-time hospital nursing, I remained active in healthcare—working as an on-call home health and hospice nurse and later as a clinical instructor for a local CNA program. I was grateful for the opportunity to give back to the programs that gave me my start. I continue to maintain my nursing license and stay up to date through continuing education.

As my family grew, I became increasingly passionate about wholesome living, nutrition, fitness, and natural health. This passion led me to create BRE HEALTHY—a platform where I share insights on family wellness, homemade meals, holistic health, and recreational activities that strengthen families. My love for natural living blended seamlessly with the farm life I desired. Today, my family and I live on a small farm in Northern Utah, where we raise horses, cattle, chickens, and a garden.

Recently, I’ve been inspired by the Frontier Nursing Service, where nurses rode on horseback to provide care to rural families across mountain ranges. They offered maternal, infant, and child care, along with general medical assistance—focusing on preventative care, education, and empowering local women. This mission deeply resonates with me. If I had been born in the last century, that would’ve been me! Their legacy inspires me to continue promoting health and wellness in my community, particularly through education and hands-on support.

Beyond my work in health and wellness, I love giving back to the next generation. I volunteer at the local elementary school as a reading mentor and serve in my church as an activity leader for girls ages 7–11. Watching children grow, learn, and develop excitement for life brings me so much joy. I truly believe that nourishing the next generation is one of the most impactful things we can do—and in turn, they teach me so much about curiosity, resilience, and joy.

Through BRE HEALTHY, I aim to inspire families to embrace wellness at home—through nutritious food, active lifestyles, and meaningful family time. I believe health starts in the home, and my mission is to help others cultivate a wholesome, fulfilling life for themselves and their loved ones.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No smooth roads here! It’s been a winding dirt road—not the easiest to navigate at times, but the journey and the view along the way have been so worth it.

Starting a website takes a great deal of effort, and building both the BRE HEALTHY brand and blog has come with its challenges. From troubleshooting technical issues to balancing work and family—while keeping family the priority—it has been a learning experience. However, through books, articles, and the wisdom of others, I’ve gained valuable knowledge and built an online resource that I’m proud of.

There have been roadblocks and speed bumps, but each challenge has shaped BRE HEALTHY into what it is today.
Somewhat recently, I experienced a flare-up of pain due to digestive sensitivities, allergens, and neuromuscular issues—ironically, BRE HEALTHY wasn’t feeling very healthy! This health struggle led me to dive deeper into healing practices, including restorative and nourishing foods (especially low-inflammatory options), immune system support, nervous system regulation, mindfulness techniques, therapeutic practices, and building strong, healthy muscles and tissues. While I am still on my healing journey, I am dedicated to using my experiences to grow personally and to help others.

One key realization was how certain technology and media consumption were dysregulating my brain and impacting my health. This challenge helped me pivot—not only in my personal life but also in BRE HEALTHY—to focus on platforms that support a balanced and health-conscious approach to technology and media use.

While the road hasn’t been smooth, I am incredibly grateful for the lessons learned and the experiences that have shaped BRE HEALTHY into what it is today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BRE HEALTHY?

Additionally, I am preparing to launch memberships on BRE HEALTHY, which will provide quality learning materials, resources, and programs focused on healthy living and horsemanship. My goal is to share the knowledge I’ve gained throughout my lifetime and since 2009, when I first entered the health industry.

For the past several years, I have also provided private horse lessons and rides for family and friends. This experience has been an incredible opportunity for both my students and me to grow in confidence, communication, and riding abilities. Through horsemanship, we build strong partnerships with our horses—and with each other—through trust, communication, and understanding. I look forward to continuing to share these experiences and lessons through BRE HEALTHY.

You can become a free member of the BRE HEALTHY HIVE community on the website to stay up to date on the latest articles, newsletters, and resources. I look forward to connecting with you!

How do you think about luck?
I believe that luck is simply the collision of timing and preparation. Instead of relying on luck, I’ve found that making the right decisions, surrounding myself with positive and uplifting people, and believing in hard work and effort pave the way for greater opportunities and success. I also believe in a higher power—God—who follows universal laws: when you do good, blessings follow.

In both life and business, organization, sacrifice, persistence, and seeking opportunities for growth and learning are essential. Success comes from controlling what you can and being prepared for opportunities when they arise, allowing you to make the most of them.

I’ve also learned that trials often serve as guides, shaping my path and mindset in the right direction. I’m deeply grateful for the generosity of others—so many of the opportunities I’ve had have been blessings made possible by their kindness and support.
