Rising Stars: Meet Just Zero of Salt Lake City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Just Zero

Hi Just, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I never waited for the perfect setup—I built it myself. My journey was forged in the craft, shaped by a relentless drive to create. I started out working in print production, making my own clothes, and honing my skills—design, lettering, typography—piece by piece. Late nights weren’t for waiting; they were for working, sharpening the sword, and refining the craft. What started as a passion for making became an obsession with mastering every detail.

Justified Ink was born from that obsession. I wanted a space where my work wasn’t just seen—it was felt. A fusion of history, rebellion, and meticulous craft. Every font I create carries the weight of tradition and the edge of the modern world. Every piece of apparel is a statement, a sigil, a mark of something deeper. This isn’t just design—it’s invocation, it’s intent.

Today, Justified Ink is more than a brand; it’s a testament to the power of forging your own path. I’ve built this from the ground up, staying true to the vision, sharpening my skills, and never compromising. The work speaks for itself, and the journey? It’s only just beginning.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is far from paved, but learning to adjust to obstacles keeps things moving. The biggest struggle? Patience. There have been so many moments where I pushed my work further than ever—bigger murals, more intricate designs, self-published books—thinking I was right on the edge of “making it.” But the truth is, the craft doesn’t have a finish line. I’m still working, still pushing.

Lettering became an obsession, something I poured thousands of hours into. That dedication led me to self-publish Blackletter II and III, books filled with years of calligraphic study and raw creative discipline. Murals were the same—each wall bigger, each project more complex. Over time, the process became clockwork: come in with a plan, execute with precision, leave behind something that speaks louder than words. Over 30,000 square feet painted, countless more in practice. Every stroke, every letter, every late night was another step forward.

The struggle isn’t about setbacks—it’s about endurance. Keeping the fire lit, staying sharp, and knowing that the next project is always the most important one.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At its core, my work is about transformation—taking raw ideas, forgotten forms, and untamed creativity and forging them into something distinct and powerful. Through Justified Ink, I specialize in typography, branding, and apparel, but it’s all part of something bigger—a pursuit of design as an art form, a discipline, and a force. Typography is a foundation, but it serves a greater vision, supporting intricate illustration, bold compositions, and designs infused with natural elements—roots and bones, insects and relics, symbols pulled from the past and reforged for the present. Each piece is a fusion of sharpened craft and instinct, a practice of summoning, refining, and wielding design with precision.

This duality extends into my work itself. Justified Ink Design is where I bring strategy and vision to client work, crafting branding, typography, and artwork with precision and depth. But Justified Ink as a brand is where I create on my own terms—fonts, books, and apparel that reflect my personal vision, built for those drawn to the same aesthetic and energy. I don’t create for mass appeal. The designs and clothing I make are what I wear, what I believe in. They aren’t for everyone—but for the rare few who resonate, they mean something real.

Murals are another extension of this philosophy—another way to scale up impact, take over a space, and leave a mark. Each wall is an act of layering and refinement, a ritual of creation that pushes the craft forward. Whether it’s covering 30,000+ sq ft of walls or mastering techniques that turn large-scale work into a precise, clockwork process, murals demand the same dedication—an alchemy of vision, movement, and execution.

What sets my work apart is the balance of artistry and discipline. I don’t just create for the sake of creating—I build with intent. Every font, design, and project is meant to carry weight, demand attention, and leave an impression. Whether it’s apparel infused with the symbols of craft and conviction, branding that elevates a client’s entire presence, or murals that transform blank walls into striking visuals, my approach is always the same: bold, strategic, and unapologetically distinct.

Justified Ink isn’t about following trends—it’s about carving a path.

What’s next?
The future of Justified Ink is about expansion—pushing the work further, refining the craft, and continuing to build something that stands the test of time. Right now, that means growing the storefront, releasing more fonts, and expanding the lineup of apparel and books. There’s a constant pull between creation and execution, and the goal is to strike that balance—bringing new designs into the world while keeping the quality and intent behind them razor-sharp.

Beyond that, I’m looking forward to taking on more large-scale projects, whether that’s murals, collaborations, or new product lines that challenge what I’ve done before. Justified Ink isn’t static—it’s a living, evolving space for creativity, and the goal is to keep elevating everything, from the typography to the art to the physical pieces people can hold in their hands.

There’s always a bigger vision ahead. Whether it’s scaling up the storefront, building a deeper catalog of work, or finding new ways to merge art, design, and physical craft, the plan is simple: keep creating, keep refining, and keep pushing forward.
