Rising Stars: Meet Madison Kline of Fairview

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Kline

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Six to seven years ago, I embarked on my photography journey, initially reaching out to individuals for portrait sessions. What truly sparked my passion for editorial photography, however, was joining a local meetup group called SLC Inspired. This community pushed me to explore the more creative aspects of photography, which had always been my true desire. Thanks to the support and inspiration from SLC Inspired, I am proud to now be a team member of the group.

The influence of SLC Inspired didn’t stop there—it also motivated me to create my own meetup group, Eternal West Editorial, alongside one of my close friends. SLC Inspired’s focus on editorial-style shoots played a pivotal role in shaping my creative vision and nurturing my growth as a photographer. Today, I’m grateful for how far I’ve come, and I owe much of my development to the encouragement and collaborative spirit that SLC Inspired fostered.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, my journey has been smooth, though it hasn’t been without its challenges. Living in Utah, where traditional wedding and couple photography dominate the market, my approach—focused on editorial photography—often stands out as unconventional. As a result, I don’t always receive the compensation I deserve for my work, simply because my style doesn’t align with what’s typically sought after in this area. The real challenge lies in finding clients who share my passion for the unique creative direction I love to explore. While photography isn’t yet my full-time career, I remain hopeful and dream of a day when it will be.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in editorial photography, pushing the boundaries of creativity with concepts that range from crafting shoots inspired by songs to working with animals, or dressing my models in unconventional attire like tin foil. If it’s out of the box, I’ve probably tried it. My work is known for its unique, bold approach, and I’ve built a reputation around my editing style and editorial vision. Unlike the typical light and airy aesthetic often favored in Utah, my editing leans toward darker, moodier tones, which I’ve been told resonates deeply with many people.

One of my greatest sources of pride is the journey I’ve taken in this industry. To hear others say that I’m one of the best photographers in Utah is incredibly humbling. I’m also immensely proud of my meetup group, Eternal West Editorial, which I co-own with a close friend. And, of course, joining SLC Inspired was a pivotal moment in my career—this group pushed me to become the photographer I am today. What truly sets me apart, however, is the combination of my distinctive editing style and the bold, creative direction I bring to every shoot.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is to reach out directly or join one of the meetup groups I’m involved with, SLC Inspired and Eternal West Editorial. These events offer a unique opportunity to collaborate not just with me, but with other talented creatives in the industry, fostering a community of innovation and inspiration.

As for supporting me, it’s as simple as tagging and crediting my work, sharing it with your network, leaving comments, and engaging with my posts. Truly, any way you show support for your friends, family, or colleagues who have a business is the best way to support me as well. Your encouragement and interaction mean the world!
