Today we’d like to introduce you to Simon Quinn.
Hi Simon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Gavin and Simon (lead singers) started as coworkers at Jersey Mike’s, and then Gavin invited Ginger and she joined on drums. Eventually Simon met Thomas at a music jam and invited him to join. We were all friends with Merakaii, who already has their own solo project, and they eventually joined the group
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Generally it’s been a smooth road. The issues we run into are the common issues with local groups, like putting shows together/bringing a crowd. Other than that it’s been figuring out how to build our following/getting good opportunities.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We draw inspiration from story telling and then used the genre we feel best works with the story. We like to have the variety of music when it comes to our genre.
We also run a pickled carrots business that funds the band and puts food on the table.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Gary Tada has been our main mentor. He is a salt lake legend and also runs the blues jam at the green pig. He just knows just about everything that has to do with music and has helped us become better musicians
