Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim And Jamie Walters.
Hi Kim and Jamie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Unparalleled Travel started a little over ten years ago when we – Kim and Jamie – met online and started our whirlwind romance. Although we differ in opinion on many of life’s essentials, like tucking in the top sheet of the bed and what an appropriate beverage for breakfast is, we do agree that life is one big adventure, even when things don’t go as planned. We both have specific and varying skillsets that compliment each other and that’s one of the things that make us so charmingly powerful. Or that’s what we tell ourselves, anyway.
Our big adventure together started in 2018 when we sold all of our belongings and moved to China to teach English. Brimming with romance and wanderlust, Kim told me I deserved the world. I’m letting her give it to me! We’ve lived in China, Thailand, Turkey and Taiwan, teaching English and working online while we discover new cultures together.
We have three children who are on their own paths back in the States and we try to include them on our adventures every chance we get. Hey, Nik, Tayler and Aubrie! We miss you.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
All relationships and businesses have their struggles and we’re crazy enough to attempt both of those things together. Sometimes we have a difference in opinion on a creative matter so we do our best to compromise and work through it. Another difference between us is one of us is very laid-back when it comes to preparing to travel and the other is not. One goes with the flow and the other would rather be at the airport five hours ahead of the flight time “just in case.” We laugh and strive for middle ground on every trip.
Overall, we try to communicate openly whenever we have a bump in our road.

Kim is an outstanding planner, organizer and manager. Where Jamie easily gets overwhelmed with too many irons in the fire, Kim can calmly increase the heat on herself and others, keeping all those irons forge-ready and successful. Jamie may lack structure and foresight, but she makes up for that in creativity. She’s an okay writer – she’s writing this now – and a mediocre artist. Kim and Jamie can both turn on the charm when they need it, but if you constantly hear one of them talking, it’s probably Jamie, with her undying skill of chatting with strangers while Kim labors over a To Do list in the corner.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
We wouldn’t be as free as we are without the love, support and good mojo bestowed upon us by our family. Our adult children tolerate FaceTime chats and online holiday family meetings with good humor. Our parents, siblings and friends are always willing to meet up when we’re in town or host us for a few nights if we’re staying around long enough. Unparalleled Travel was built on unparalleled love and understanding. (That name was just too long for the T-shirts.)
We’ve also been blessed with exciting work we can do online. Kim manages all booking and reservations for an amazing gem of an inn in Costa Rica.
