Meet Jameson Mohammadi of Salt Lake City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jameson Mohammadi.

Hi Jameson , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My early focus during my associates programs in Monterey California was evolutionary anthropology. After graduation, I spent my 20s in an artistic way. Hungry for life and experience, I fell in love multiple times, lived across the US and abroad, worked varieties of jobs in kitchens, cafes, and bars, all to cultivate a seasoned human experience.

At the end of my rambling 20s, I determined the natural transition was to next understand how to cultivate a seasoned human experience that agreed with our evolutionary adaptations. In 2023, I graduated from the University of Utah with degrees in exercise science and nutrition science.

I started TWOFOOT Training in 2020 to guide people to behaviors that would agree both with our evolutionary past as well as our modern present. I have happy to have helped hundreds with their health by better understanding exercise, nutrition, sleep, and more nuanced elements of human health such as community and moderation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is messy, but that’s part of it. Calm seas never made a good sailor, and the modern tendency is to view adversity as something that should be avoided. But going through difficulty is what stimulates growth. I have been sick, heartbroken, injured, benched, dismayed, mistaken, and lost. But all of this has lead me to arrive as a much more robust and resilient person today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a personal trainer and human nutrition specialist. My entire practice is rooted in our understanding of our evolutionary past. How were we adapted to move optimally? Are we built to run? To lift heavy things? Why are the leading causes of early mortality the consequences of lifestyle choices? What foods produce the best health for us and why? Why do we require 1/3 of our day to be spent in sleep? Is it wrong to share a bottle of wine with a group of friends during a celebration? Are some foods “good” and some “bad?” Human health is nuanced, and TWOFOOT Training is designed to build a toolkit for people to help answer these questions in a place and time that make these answers difficult to find.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories were recurring. My whole family would drive north to Salt Lake City in a VW van several times a year, and we would all sleep in the basement of my grandparents home. I remember often awaking shortly after my father, and while everyone else was asleep, in the corner, he could be found quietly doing pushups and sit-ups before his shower and breakfast.

There is research to show the significant influence parents can have on their progeny in the way of physical activity. It’s no surprise that my fathers prioritization of his health has influenced me and mine.
