Exploring Life & Business with Lynda Lopez of Lyvan – Unica come te

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynda Lopez.

Hi Lynda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story begins in southern Italy, where I grew up surrounded by creativity, nature and a deep respect for craftsmanship. From my mother and grandmother I learned the value of handmade, but above all initiative and determination. Our project “Lyvan” is a fusion of all these ingredients: creativity, craftsmanship, empowerment, environmental commitment and love.

I founded Lyvan for several reasons. First of all I was no longer satisfied with my job, I wanted to continue using my knowledge in psychology of marketing. But I didn’t want to do it for others anymore, I wanted to invest in myself. Secondly as a response to the fast fashion industry and the growing problem of waste, a topic that I had the opportunity to study during my university studies. I wanted to demonstrate that it was possible to create beautiful and functional accessories without harming the planet, using what we already had. So I started experimenting with upcycled materials, the ones my mother used in her laboratory. We started with scraps of nautical fabrics and then we added deadstock leather from the big fashion industry.

At the beginning our products were just an hobby, a way to recover waste that was naturally produced. We had no reference models, we created based on what we had or based on what we could use. Little by little friends and relatives noticed the potential in our products, so we decided to create small collections. We gave names to models that we particularly liked. In short, we put some order into what was previously just a pastime. From there, things slowly grew: word of mouth, opening social channels and online presence, creating a community of people who share our values.

Lyvan is more than a brand: it is a creative way of thinking that promotes conscious consumption, circular design and the beauty of imperfection.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path we have chosen is not easy: balancing creativity, sustainability and business is a challenge, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Even today I feel that we still have a lot to do, a lot to give. Finding the right people to share this project with is not easy. Unfortunately, we are still too used to buying a lot for little. We buy objects that we don’t need for the pure pleasure of having them. We buy because we are influenced by others, but little by ourselves.
The message we want to give with Lyvan is to listen to ourselves, our tastes, the desire to dare, without giving up quality.
We believe that one of the most difficult challenges is precisely that on a social and educational level. Educating to conscious consumption.

But we are confident that projects like ours can make a difference. We believe in the power of sharing and are happy to co-create and co-educate

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lyvan is a sustainable accessory brand that transforms reclaimed materials into unique, handcrafted items. We specialize in creating bags, wallets, pouches, and small goods from upcycled leather and alternative eco-friendly materials. Each item is handmade in Italy with great attention to detail, quality, and individuality — no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

What truly sets Lyvan apart is our commitment to sustainability without compromising on style. We don’t just create “eco-friendly” products — we tell stories. Many of our pieces are made from leftover leather or discarded materials that would otherwise end up as waste. We see beauty in what others overlook, and that philosophy is at the heart of everything we do.

Our aesthetic is playful, bold, and full of character — we love mixing colors, experimenting with form, and adding surprising details. We’re not trying to follow trends; we’re here to make something that feels honest, expressive, and deeply human.

I’m most proud of how much heart goes into each creation. Lyvan is still a small brand, but every item we make is a piece of art, and our customers appreciate that.

For your readers, I’d love them to know that Lyvan isn’t just about accessories — it’s about rethinking value, embracing imperfection, and making more conscious choices. Whether you’re looking for a statement piece or a meaningful gift, Lyvan offers something made with care and designed to last.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I have to admit that I haven’t yet had the pleasure of visiting Utah in person, but from everything I’ve heard and read, it sounds truly inspiring. What I love most about your city is its remarkable blend of natural beauty.
For us at Lyvan, it would be a true honor to one day bring our work there and connect with people who value craftsmanship and conscious living
