Check Out Patricia Segura’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Segura

Hi Patricia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From an early age, I have been driven by a passion for creativity, constantly seeking ways to infuse that into every aspect of my work and life. I have always aspired to succeed through artistic expression, exploring various creative fields, including painting, illustration, graphic design, and 3D modeling—an art form I continue to cherish. However, it was animation that truly spark my passion and set me on the path I knew I wanted to follow.

Recently, I earned an Associate of Science degree in Animation, marking a significant milestone in my journey. Every day, I am committed to refining my skills, embracing new challenges, and evolving as an animator. With a deep appreciation for the limitless possibilities within animation, I am so excited to keep on growing within this dynamic industry and making a lasting impact.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Consistency has been one of my biggest struggles throughout my creative journey. There have been times when burnout completely drained my passion, leaving me uninspired for months. The excitement I felt for animation and art would fade under the weight of deadlines and huge expectations. I questioned my abilities, my direction, and whether I was truly meant to pursue this path. It’s a challenge many creators face whether you’re an artist, entrepreneur, or innovator, it’s easy to lose sight of your “why” when the pressure to produce overshadows the joy of creating. The hardest part isn’t just the work itself, it’s pushing forward when motivation runs dry.

I learned this lesson in school. When I wasn’t consistent, I didn’t grow, and when I didn’t grow, I felt stuck. It was frustrating to see others advancing while I struggled to move forward. But through that frustration, I realized growth isn’t just about constant progress it’s also about resilience. Some days, inspiration comes easily; other days, it’s barely there. But every step forward, no matter how small, is still movement, it took me a huge amount of time to understand that. Now, as I continue my journey, I remind myself that creativity isn’t just about producing it’s about perseverance, and rediscovering the joy in the process.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist aspiring to become an animator, specializing in digital painting and 2D animation. I am best known for my concept art and character designs, and I love reinterpreting existing visions whether it’s music albums, movies, or well-known characters through my unique artistic style.

Now that I’ve graduated and have more time outside of school, I am focused on advancing my skills professionally and exploring ways to collaborate with other creatives. I am also preparing to transfer to a university to expand my network within the industry.

What I’m most proud of is my commitment to my vision and goals. I welcome both praise and critique, but I don’t let them define my work or journey. I’ve reached a point where I understand the power of consistency and resilience, even on days when progress feels small.

My animation partner/friend Avery Harrison and I are excited to announce that we are currently working on an animated series together! So stay tuned!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re an artist or anyone in a creative space, the best advice I can give is this: practice, practice, practice. Keep pushing yourself to learn, improve, and stay open to feedback from other creatives. One of my teachers once told me a quote that completely changed my perspective: “We all have 10,000 bad drawings in us. The sooner we get them out, the better.” – Walt Stanchfield. That stuck with me.

This taught me that through your journey of creation you tend to have more bad outcomes over good outcomes, you’ll often produce more imperfect work than masterpieces and that’s part of the process. The more you create, the more you improve, and when that breakthrough moment comes, it opens the door to even greater outcomes. You advancing never stops, so keep pushing forward, it’s always worth it.
