Today we’d like to introduce you to Antionne Berry.
Hi Antionne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As far as how I started with music, I come from a family of music lovers a couple of great singers, in my mother, and my sister, and my brother was a collector of tapes and magazines and things of that nature my cousin Jermaine introduced me to free styling in 1995 when I was 11 years old and it just sparked my interest from there I was always a fan of rap.
I didn’t rap,but when I discovered freestyle that’s when I started to wanted to try my hand at rapping,
And as for where I’m at now I’m an independent artist Working hard at my craft i’ve been performing off and on around Utah for years feeling blessed to be doing what I’m doing
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the biggest struggle at first was confidence performing in front of others and being afraid of rejection but the more I did it the more comfortable I felt I still wrestle with confidence to this day another bump in the road is promoting ones itself. I’m not good at you know selling myself or boasting about myself. I’m a humble guy so it’s hard to be out there as far as promoting myself and my art.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I Rap I’m an MC I specialize in writing songs and performing those songs. I’m most proud of my family my wife and my children what sets me apart from others i think is i sound different and my offbeat approach stays true to the roots of Hip Hop
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Surround yourself with like minded people who are going the same way as you doing similar things help each other as far as music I’ve met a lot of people performing at shows and recording studios asking around for good engineers and Dj’s. The internet is valuable tool that has helped me as well.
