Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Jean Scherbel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello! My name is Haley Jean and I am a 25 year-old content creator from Salt Lake City. My content focuses on lifestyle, beauty, and ASMR. ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and refers to pleasurable and relaxing “tingly” sensations that occur in response to specific visual/auditorial stimuli. Most of my content is aimed at helping people unwind or fall asleep! I love to center my content around my interests and hobbies like makeup, cozy video games, and books.
I got started in content creation at a young age. I fell in love with video production and editing after getting my first camcorder for Christmas in 2008. When I was fifteen, I begged my parents to let me start a YouTube channel and they reluctantly agreed. Flash forward 10 years later, and I am now posting videos 3 days a week for an audience of 210,000+ subscribers.
Getting to do my childhood hobby as my job is the biggest blessing. Every single day I wake up excited and thankful to get to do what I do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Day to day, I absolutely love what I do! But there have been a few road bumps on my content creation journey.
It took years of posting consistently before I was ever able to make any consistent income. I struggled with growing up, graduating high school and finding myself all while growing my platform and discovering my niche as a creator.
Then, as I was relying on Adsense to get me through my 4 years at University, one of my channels got hacked and deleted. It was an extremely stressful few weeks before I was able to recover my account and continue posting.
But throughout the highs and lows, this still is my dream job and I try to appreciate every part of the journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My content specialty is long-form ASMR videos on YouTube (@HaleyJeanASMR). I would say I am most known for my beauty or gaming roleplays. I even had a few videos hit over 1 million views (such as ‘ASMR Among Us but we’re the impostors….’ with 3 million and ‘ASMR Sim Does Your Makeup!’ with 1.1 million).
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me in content creation is providing my viewers with a cozy, fun, safe space where they can come to laugh and relax after a long day. 🙂
