Rising Stars: Meet Brittni Strickland of Northern Utah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittni Strickland.

Hi Brittni, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi, I’m Brittni – a self-taught photographer with a deep love for capturing life’s most meaningful moments.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been drawn to photography. I would ask my family to take pictures of everything—from big celebrations to quiet afternoons in the sun. I’ve always believed in freezing time through photos, holding onto memories I could look back on and treasure forever.

In 2019, I received my first “fancy” camera, and from the moment I held it, I knew I’d found my calling. I told my family I wanted to start a photography business focused on families and their stories. With a few skeptical glances and a bit of encouragement, I launched a social media page and began booking shoots. What started as a side gig quickly turned into a full-time passion.

Since then, I’ve had the honor of meeting countless amazing individuals and families. Being part of their milestones—from first birthdays to anniversaries and everything in between—has been one of the greatest joys of my life. It’s more than a job; it’s a privilege to help others preserve the moments that matter most.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a business is never easy, especially in a place like Utah, where the photography scene is very saturated. Self-doubt and imposter syndrome are very real, and they still creep in from time to time. But I’ve learned that the most important thing is to stay true to your own art. No two photographers see the world the same way, and that’s the beauty of it. What you capture is yours—and it’s worth sharing.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without those who believed in me from the beginning. The support, trust, and encouragement I’ve received has meant everything. And every family, couple, or individual I get to photograph reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.

Being part of people’s milestones—their quiet moments and big celebrations—is a privilege I don’t take lightly. Thank you for letting me be a part of your story.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When it comes to photography, I’m always ready to capture anything — families, branding sessions, seniors, weddings — every shoot is a new opportunity to get creative. To me, the most important part is bringing my client’s vision to life.

My style is bright, true to color, and a blend of posed and candid shots. I especially love capturing those real, in-between moments when people aren’t even aware of the camera — that’s when their true selves shine through.

What truly sets me apart is my love for people. I genuinely enjoy connecting, listening, and building relationships with my clients. Often, they start as clients and leave as friends. For me, photography isn’t just about business or making money — it’s about celebrating people’s lives and being part of their most special moments.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I edit all my photos using Lightroom Classic and Photoshop to keep my images clean, vibrant, and timeless. I’m always looking for fresh inspiration for prompts and poses on Pinterest, Unscripted, and Instagram, making sure every session feels unique and personal.
