Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Kenny.
Hi Danny, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
i’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and started piano lessons in 1st grade. So singing and playing piano have always been a part of my life. It wasn’t until seventh grade when I wrote my first song. All throughout middle school, I used songwriting as my outlet to help express my emotions. My sophomore year of high school, I released my first song titled “Better This Way”. I kept writing, kept producing, kept recording, and kept performing. A few years ago, I held a benefit concert where all of the proceeds went to the American foundation for suicide prevention. It was seriously the most incredible experience. I heard from some people that it really helped them. It wasn’t until this moment that I realized that my music could really mean something to someone. This is when I really decided to take music seriously. I’m continuing to release music, hoping to be able to touch some people’s lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think the hardest part about it is that right now my drive is purely passion. As much as I love to work on passion projects, it doesn’t pay the bills. Being a college student, a producer for hire, as well as a songwriter around the side, makes it harder for the songs to be produced at the rate I’d like them to be. it’s definitely not impossible, but it is difficult.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
ever since I wrote my first song in seventh grade, I’ve gotten better at being more independent with the way that I go about creating music. I had a songwriting teacher and a producer all throughout middle school in high school, but as I’ve improved as a musician, I’ve become more and more independent. so much so, that my most recent songs have been completely written, composed, produced, mixed, and mastered all by myself! honestly, that’s probably what I’m most proud of: my progression. I feel like I’ve learned so much about the art of creation, and I’ve loved every single second of it. Clearly I still have a lot to learn, but I’m excited to see where I’ll end up!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I know it’s completely off-topic of what I’m probably supposed to talk about, but you are loved. However many people you think care about you, there’s always 10 times more
