Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Burden.
Hi Bailey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Native Scripture was created by a returned LDS missionary who knew there was a better way to inspire missionaries, returned missionaries, and bilingual families to dive into the greatest language study tool: The Book of Mormon.
Discover the enriching experience of studying the Book of Mormon in two languages with Native Scripture’s Dual Language Edition. This unique volume features English text in the left column and your second language text in the right column, allowing you to read and understand the scriptures verse by verse in both languages. The Dual Language Book of Mormon is a high quality product that will last you a lifetime! Complete with a premium leather-bound cover, 35 gram scripture paper, gold foiled titles, gold-gilt edges, and a satin ribbon bookmark.
Since August of 2024, Native Scripture has sold thousands of copies to customers around the world and has released 5 languages with 3 more on the way in 2025. Native Scripture also plans on releasing Dual Language Scriptures in other sacred texts such as The Old Testament and New Testaments.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The idea for Native Scripture was just that – an idea. When Bailey shared her thoughts about Native Scripture with her husband and a few close friends, they doubted the idea and were unsure it would become successful. Bailey wanted to prove them wrong, so she made a few simple videos explaining the idea of Native Scripture and shared them to social media. The videos instantly went viral with thousands of future customers demanding a copy! Once she had the validation and confidence for her idea, she got to work.
After months of working with manufacturers, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for translated texts, and more, Native Scripture was finally launched August 1st, 2024.
Although starting a business is always a challenge, Bailey feels as though everything was meant to be. So many miracles were placed in her path for her to help make Native Scripture a reality for LDS missionaries, members, and language learners alike.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Native Scripture?
Native Scripture was created by a returned LDS missionary who knew there was a better way to inspire missionaries, returned missionaries, and bilingual families to dive into the greatest language study tool: The Book of Mormon.
We are proud to be a small, female-owned and ran business with the help of a supportive husband. Our team of two is dedicated to creating a premium, high-quality product for the unique needs of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—many of whom belong to bilingual families or learn a second language during their missionary service. By aligning the two languages side by side in one book, we’ve helped thousands deepen their study and strengthen their understanding of sacred texts across linguistic boundaries.
Bailey is a graduate from Brigham Young University in Advertising and is striving to create more than just a book. Although the business is still in its infancy, Bailey has big plans of creating a non-profit charity around Native Scripture to help provide funds to support future missionaries as well as classrooms and English classes to those around the world who do not have access to education.
