Exploring Life & Business with Dana Klein of Dana Klein Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Klein.

Hi Dana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved art and people’s stories. I started drawing portraits in 2001, then fell in love with photography because it gave me a new way to tell those stories. In 2010, I launched my business to create portraits that feel like artwork. Since then, I’ve worked with families, local magazines, and created a limited edition fine art series called Moose & Magpies. My goal is to help people feel seen and create one-of-a-kind artwork that’s fun, meaningful, and a little unexpected.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road—but I think that’s true for most creative paths. Building a business as an artist means constantly juggling the creative side with the business side, which can be challenging. There have been slow seasons, moments of self-doubt, and times when I had to reinvent how I shared my work. But every struggle has taught me something—about resilience, about trusting my vision, and about the kind of meaningful work I truly want to create. It’s all part of the journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Dana Klein Creative, I specialize in storytelling portraits that blend fine art and photography. My sessions are personalized and thoughtful—I work closely with each client to create something truly unique, whether it’s capturing a child’s personality, a family’s bond, or a moment that deserves to be remembered through art.

What sets my work apart is how I combine creativity, emotion, and artistry. I’m known for creating portraits that feel like one-of-a-kind artwork—pieces you’ll want to hang on your walls because they don’t just show what you look like, they tell your story.

Beyond portraits, I also create a limited edition fine art series called Moose & Magpies, which adds a bit of magic and playfulness to any space. I collaborate with local magazines like Neighbors of Park City and The Park City Scout Guide to create imagery that captures the spirit of our community.

What I’m most proud of is helping people feel truly seen—and creating artwork that’s personal, whimsical, and full of meaning.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just about numbers or awards—it’s about connection and impact. I define success by the moments when my clients feel truly seen and understood through the portraits I create. It’s knowing that my work brings joy, sparks emotion, and becomes a meaningful part of their lives and homes. When people tell me my art has touched them or helped preserve their story in a way that feels special—that’s success to me.
