Meet Stefanie Young, Rebecca Bauer, and Ashley Maginot of Asiina Cycling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Young, Rebecca Bauer, and Ashley Maginot.

Hi Stefanie, Rebecca, Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Asiina Cycling was founded to create space for women on bikes of all kinds and at every level across Utah. When Stefanie Young, Rebecca Bauer, and Ashley Maginot learned that the DNA Women’s Pro Cycling Team would be folding at the end of 2024, they saw an opportunity to start something new—something rooted in community, inclusivity, and growth.

In November 2024, they launched Asiina Cycling as a trial team, initially envisioning a small group of friends riding together. But what began as a modest idea quickly gained momentum. Today, Asiina Cycling has grown to more than 50 members, and is growing every week!

This incredible growth is a testament to the welcoming, supportive spirit each member brings to the team. Stef, Ashley, and Becca are continually inspired by the strength, kindness, and camaraderie of the women they ride alongside and feel deeply grateful to be part of such a vibrant and empowering cycling community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
So far, the journey has been smoother than we ever expected. When we started this team, we had no idea what we were getting into. From registering as an LLC and then as a 501(c)(3), to managing communications, partnerships, and everything in between, we’ve had to learn it all from scratch. Thankfully, we’ve been incredibly lucky to have a group of women who keep the drama low and the vibes high, making all the behind-the-scenes work feel not just manageable, but genuinely rewarding.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Asiina Cycling?
Asiina Cycling is currently the only Utah-based cycling team dedicated exclusively to women and embracing nearly every discipline of riding—road, gravel, mountain biking, and cyclocross. As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to empower and elevate women cyclists through fostering a community of growth and excellence, providing dedicated support, and promoting inclusivity.

We believe in the transformative power of cycling and have been honored to witness firsthand how a supportive, inclusive environment can change lives. With 50 women strong—and growing—we are a team rooted in encouragement, continuous learning, showing up for one another, and welcoming anyone who wants to give cycling a try.

What we’re most proud of isn’t just our growth, but the incredible women who have joined us on this journey. Their generosity, passion, and presence have become a driving force not just for our team but for the broader cycling community around us.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Starting a new team without established support was a bold and uncertain move. We had no clear roadmap and no guarantees—just a vision and a deep belief in what we were building. It was daunting not knowing how we’d meet even the most basic needs, but from day one, we made accessibility our priority. We committed to lowering financial barriers for the women on our team, choosing to subsidize expenses wherever possible to make cycling more inclusive and welcoming.

We took that leap of faith with the hope that others would recognize the value of our mission and want to be part of it.

Today, with 50 members and counting, the need for financial support has only grown. We continue to seek out partners and donors who share our vision—those who believe in the power of community, the importance of representation, and the impact of making space for women in cycling.

We are so grateful for our current sponsors who believed in what we are doing and allowed us to start this team: Trek Bikes, DOMA Coffee, First Endurance, Sizzling Platter, Peak State Fit, and Bike Utah.
