Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie and Dallin Jackson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We first stepped into the wedding world as photographers about eight years ago. Jessie’s story actually started much earlier. In high school, photography was just a hobby for her. Around the time we got married 14 years ago, we received a random email from our own wedding photographer asking if Jessie would join his team of associate photographers. He said she had the right personality and that he could train her. Jessie immediately replied, “Yes!” and was so excited, only to find out he had accidentally emailed the wrong Jessie! Even so, he was curious about her work, so she started sending him photos from time to time. Eventually, he invited her onto his team, and that’s where it all began.
Then, about nine years ago, we decided it was time to branch out and started Jessie and Dallin Photography. That’s when Jessie began training me (Dallin). I learned the basics through an online course, and through that course, we met another husband-and-wife photography team from Southern Utah. We stayed in touch over the years, and a couple of years ago, they reached out to say they were selling the wedding magazine they had created for Southern Utah called Zion Brides. The idea of stepping into a different side of the wedding world intrigued us. After a lot of thought, we decided to go all in and purchased the business.
Not long after, we realized the name Zion Brides wasn’t the best fit for the publication anymore. The magazine had grown well beyond Zion National Park, and most of the weddings and elopements featured had an adventurous spirit at their core. It made sense to rebrand. That’s how Adventure Wed was born. It’s a name that reflects what the magazine is today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been without its challenges. Running two businesses while Dallin also works a full-time job outside of wedding photography and the magazine can be a lot to juggle. On top of that, we have two kids who keep us on our toes. Finding balance between work, family, and everything in between has been one of the hardest parts, but also the most rewarding as we figure it out together.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Adventure Wed Magazine?
Adventure Wed is a magazine for couples who want a wedding or elopement that feels true to them rather than following tradition. We showcase weddings and elopements with an adventurous spirit, whether that means saying vows on a mountain peak, exchanging rings in a city restaurant, or something entirely unexpected. Our goal is to inspire couples to design a wedding day that is meaningful and authentic to their story. Adventure does not always have to mean hiking miles into the backcountry (though we love those kinds of celebrations, too!). What matters most is that each wedding reflects the couple in an adventurous and personal way.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
You can read Adventure Wed for free online, or purchase printed copies to share and enjoy. Many adventure-based businesses keep our magazine on display in their storefronts for customers to find who might be planning their own adventure wedding. Inside the magazine and on the Adventure Wed website, couples will find inspiration and trusted vendors to help them create a day that’s true to their story. If you’re a wedding professional who works with adventure-minded couples, we’d love to feature you in our vendor directory. You can find out more by visiting our website.
