Today we’d like to introduce you to Nidhi Garg.
Hi Nidhi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
By profession, I am an IT engineer with 9 years of experience, but my true passion for cooking was something I discovered back in 2014 while working in Hyderabad. Living in a PG and missing my mom’s food pushed me into the kitchen, and that’s when I realized how much joy cooking brought me. From then on, whenever I got the chance, I loved experimenting with food.
After my marriage in 2016, I finally had my own kitchen and complete freedom to explore my creativity. My husband became my biggest supporter—and also my first food critic—while I kept experimenting with new recipes.
In 2020, during the COVID lockdowns, I shot my very first YouTube video and started an Instagram page, thinking it would go viral overnight. But soon I realized that social media doesn’t work that way—it demands consistency and patience, something I struggled to balance alongside my demanding IT job. Naturally, my pages became stagnant for a while.
Everything changed in 2022 when I moved to the US. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t working, and the sudden free time, along with cultural adjustments, left me feeling low and out of place. That’s when my husband encouraged me to restart my food journey online, something I couldn’t fully pursue back in India because of work. It truly became a turning point in my life.
Since then, I’ve been posting almost daily on Instagram, and today I have a wonderful community of over 14K engaged followers. I collaborate with brands, create food content, and spend my days shooting, editing, and sharing recipes that bring me happiness. Cooking has become more than a passion—it’s my stress buster, my creative outlet, and my way of connecting with people. Every time I receive a heartfelt comment about my recipes, it feels like I’m on cloud nine.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—it has never been a smooth journey. Shooting a video alone without any help is a challenge in itself, and when you have a toddler at home, it becomes twice as hard. I was constantly juggling between my job, cooking, and motherhood, and setting aside time for my hobby often felt impossible because everything else always seemed like a priority.
Now, as a mother of a 6-year-old girl and a 10-month-old baby boy, the challenges are very different but equally demanding. Even today, I mostly edit my videos late at night when the house is quiet and everyone is asleep—that’s the only peaceful time I get for myself. And of course, behind every reel or post, there are endless hours of cooking, shooting, cleaning, and a mountain of utensils that no one really talks about.
But despite all these struggles, the passion for cooking and the joy of sharing my recipes with people keeps me going.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am now a full-time content creator, specializing in food and recipe videos. I create content for my own social media platforms as well as for brands through professional collaborations. Living in Utah, I’ve become known primarily for my Indian recipes and cooking videos, which allow me to share a piece of my culture with a wider audience.
What I’m most proud of is the wonderful community I’ve built—my followers who constantly cheer me on, support my work, and shower love on my recipes. That encouragement is something I truly value because it’s the result of years of persistence and hard work.
What sets me apart is my determination and consistency. I don’t give up easily. Even with the responsibilities of being a mother and managing a household, I always find a way to carve out time for both my family and my creative work. That balance isn’t easy, but it’s what fuels me and keeps me grounded.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone starting something new—whether it’s content creation or any other passion—is to remember that patience and consistency are the real keys to success. Growth doesn’t happen overnight; it’s a gradual process that requires showing up every single day, even when the results aren’t immediate.
Looking back, I wish someone had guided me earlier and reminded me that it’s okay if things don’t take off instantly. If you stay consistent, keep learning, and trust the process, success will eventually follow.
