Lenni Uitto on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Lenni Uitto shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Lenni, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
The premiere screening of my first feature film Permafrost would be one of those moments. It took three years to produce from start to finish and then to sell out all the tickets in the 300 seat theater was quite a special event and accomplishment. To have everybody there to experience all that effort and hard work on the big screen through a story told via a movie is quite an experience.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Lenni Uitto, I’m an award winning actor, director, writer, filmmaker. I tell stories through film. My production company is Xelot Film. I’m currently actively working on my TV Series “WROL Series”.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
From an early age my father had always instilled this work ethic in me that today keeps me going. The Finnish people refer to it as Sisu. Basically the translation is “a Finnish concept that describes a unique form of resilience, grit, determination, and courage in the face of extreme adversity.” Which in a lot of circumstances I’ve been in when producing films this grit and determination is what gets me to the end to the finish. So I’d thank my Dad for that.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Live the moment, enjoy the process, and enjoy the ride. We like to believe we are in control but in reality we are not. All you can do is trust it’ll turn out how it’s supposed to turn out. So admire it when it’s all said and done.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I believe what I perceive as my public self is the real me, but in reality I don’t know what that is to other people since I’d have to be them to experience that. But all I can do is try and be true to who I am and maybe they can get a glimpse of the real me.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I don’t believe I’d stop doing anything. I like to live with no regrets And that means doing what I know is true to myself and what I was meant to do.
