Safarri , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Creative art, photography, modeling. I especially like to surf the internet looking at inspirations of photography, poses, and art to sharpen my mind for my drawing and photo editing skills. Aside from that, I enjoy my family time with my daughter and connect with people in general.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a photographer and a model. I have been working tirelessly on my photoshoots for years on myself and with many other wonderful models and talented photographers. What stood out the most of my works I have done on my photography portraits are the artistic ways of how I used the skills of filtering photos and editing some areas to make it look more realistic and at same time matching the aesthetic and style and mood I wanted it to feel and look like. I have already been in a few interviews like this before mentioning how I began and all, but I also have an exciting addition to my works. I had just completed and achieved my tattoo artist certification, and I have done some amazing art specializing in gothic style. That also helped me get more exposure and inspirational insights in improving and developing my photography skills and widen the aspect in that area.
If you want to know more about my works and see them, you can check them out at instagram.com/safarrisphotography and instagram.com/safarristattoos
My modeling portfolio is instagram.com/vintage_safarri (old one used to be instagram.com/modelsafarri, I might will switch back to that).
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
That is a really good and tough question. I came from a very sensitive place where I was taught not to trust people outside of my community’s walls. I was taught to fear and see the world as a terrible place where I would get lost in and lose my identity. It wasn’t til when I realized that there are many good people out there and that I need to have more faith in myself and trust in the process that I will find my way and know my own identity, I was able to build up the courage and confidence to step out and share my talents with the world. Now, I see many different and incredible and talented and unique people and individuals out there in the world, expressing themselves that gave me the confidence and inspiration and motivation to give myself a chance. I see world as a whole wide universe yet to be explored, art I have yet to see and admire, people with their own unique talents yet to be my teachers, and places I have yet to pass through.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I have had a lot of progress in that. My biggest wounds were from my childhood and my upbringing, and that the experiences I had went through would have dimmed my light and handicapped my wings and kept me from being able to have the courage to use my talents and share them. I was able to overcome a lot of trauma process with a lot of help, and one of the biggest way to help me heal from them is through photography, modeling, drawing, writing lyrics, dancing, and anything related to art has really helped me in such a therapeutic way and that has shaped me into someone with betterment and stronger and that I was able to express my emotions and pour it into my art works and make them beautiful pieces everyone can enjoy and admire.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I am very passionate about my mindset and my views I always try to be myself and share what I’m passionate about with people and show support to them too.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Of course! One of my biggest mottos is “All or nothing.”
