Conversations with Martin Casaus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Casaus.

Hi Martin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hola! My name is Martin Casaus. I’ve spent 20 years in finance helping people retire and I’ve been able to travel the world for the past 21 years in entertainment, mostly in professional wrestling and now UFC Power Slap. I’m married to my beautiful wife, Leslie. I’ve been able to be featured in film, books, television, and an upcoming video game. I’ve been blessed to see different cultures and financial situations and that’s why I began my life in business mentoring people to use money more wisely and helping people create assets in which their money works for them. I’ve been blessed for sure but it all started here in Utah

I was born and raised right here in West Jordan, Utah. Every city has its own communities and culture and I’m glad I get to call Utah and some of its culture home. Like most people I was taught to go to school to get good grades, so I can get the best job, buy my home, and live the American dream. So I did that.

I went to Juan Diego Catholic High school and got good grades, went to several colleges in Utah including Westminster and SLCC and ended up getting my bachelors degree in business. I bought my first home in Saratoga Springs, Utah and was living a career in finance both in banking and a brokerage firm.

I got my bachelors degree and worked 20 years in banking and as a stock broker helping people set themselves up for retirement. I made good money and worked alot of hours. I saw alot of the ins and outs of finance and saw to many people get to retirement age and not have the life they always wanted. Also I learned through my own studies to look at the person 20 years further down the line in your field and see if the fruit on their tree resembles the life you want in 20 years. The “20 year fruit on the tree test” I call it.

In order to progress in this career I was going to need to work another 10 to 15 hours a week. I was already working a 45 hour work week and most of the people 20 years down the line were spending more time at the office than at home and were exhausted by the time they got home to spend time with their family. I loved helping point people in the right direction for retirement. The job paid well and took care of me, and at the same time I wasn’t passionate about it. I loved helping people but I caught myself staring at the clock waiting for the time to pass monday through friday so i can get to my weekends. I felt like I was just living to work. Speaking of weekends…

I was a huge fan of professional wrestling as a kid. I went to a WWE show here in SLC and someone handed me a flier saying there is local wrestling here and even a training school I could go to and get in the ring myself. I went to a school named UCW run by a man named Steve Neilson and I was hooked. I started to love my weekends, and my wife encouraged me to go all in on my professional wrestling dream. I drove thousands of miles and wrestled everywhere I could across the country.

Hard work, treating people kindly, and with some godly help I got the opportunity to win championships in many places and wrestle many people I watched on tv when i was growing up

I have been blessed enough to be on tv shows like WWE Tough Enough hosted by Stone Cold Steve Austin. Lucha Underground with greats like Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Blue Demon, Rey Fenix, and Penta. I won the Lucha Underground championship. I got to travel all of Mexico wrestling for AAA Lucha Libre in arenas filled with thousands of people. I got to travel to amazing places like Germany, Puerto Rico, and even compete in the Lucha Libre World cups in Tokyo, Japan. I’ve been blessed enough to be featured in board games, books, games.

I’ve been a gamer my whole life so to do motion capture for a video game I will be in was like another dream come true. I’ll be in the upcoming video game called The Wrestling Code for the xbox, pc, and Playstation. My love of games brought me to streaming a few times a week on Twitch and YouTube with an awesome community of people. Shout out to you guys

It’s been an incredible journey so far, and it’s also come with broken bones, herniated discs, and the reminder that fame doesn’t always equal great fortune. I knew I had to be smart with money. Also many of the wrestlers 20 years down the line were injured, hurting, and hurting financially. Wrestling doesn’t pay residuals.

From my financial background I knew I needed to make my money work for me vs me working for it. I also learned in my life that in order to have success in a field I should find someone already successful in that field and partner or mentor with them. Remember the 20 years in the future and “fruit on the tree test” we discussed earlier? Ive been blessed enough to be introduced to many very successful entrepreneurs who have “fruit on their tree”

Through some awesome friends, I was introduced to Summa Terra Ventures here in Utah. I sold my first home and with their expertise, I went from renting out a single family home to partnering in over 1,100 doors in apartment complexes being built in Utah and Texas. Real estate is a great asset for both taxes and making your money work for you

I’ve also partnered with a group of entrepreneurs who are tired of the financial system working against people. Debt and taxes are at a historic high. Debit/credit card companies profited around 180 billion dollars last year in swipe fees alone. That’s more than EVERY United States sports league combined. No joke, google it, “how much did debit and credit cards make last year”. We teach families and business owners how to make their money work for them using our digital payment platform and simple systems. We have the only way around debit and credit cards transactions in the United states and Canada.

I recently just signed my first UFC Powerslap contract as well. I get to have my Powerslap debut October 24th in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates at Powerslap 16. I’m excited to represent Utah internationally again.
Utah will always be my home, and I’m grateful for every step of this journey — from the stock market, to the wrestling ring, to businesses, and now into Power Slap. I hope to help people be encouraged to chase their dreams, live the life they dream of, and represent Utah the best I can. My plan is to leave the world better then i left it and make a positive impact on those around me

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I broke my ankle, ribs, tore my mcl, and herniated 6 discs in my spine. Ive had times during my herniated discs where it was painful to walk and my wife had to help me put on my shoes. There was times when we were blessed financially and times were we needed to penny pinch.
