Hi Harley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with Sand & Sun Floral began in 2023 when I took a floral arranging class. I’ve always loved flowers and would play with them on my own, but this class sparked something deeper and gave me the confidence to start my own business. At the time, I was in a difficult place, previously attending Mechanical Engineering school, feeling lost, and dealing with chronic illness, autoimmune issues, and past trauma.
Flowers have always brought me joy, and starting my business instantly felt like confirmation from God that I was exactly where I was meant to be. I’ve always sought guidance from Jesus Christ in my life, and through Sand & Sun Floral, I’ve been able to explore my creative and artistic abilities, gain confidence, and experience a new sense of freedom. Growing up, I danced from the age of 5 to 18, and losing that artistic outlet left a void in my life. Working with flowers has allowed me to reconnect with that form of self-expression.
Creating arrangements reminds me of God’s beautiful creations and gives me the joy of sharing that with others, whether it’s brightening someone’s day or designing a unique, meaningful floral experience for a wedding. Starting this business has also allowed me to focus on healing my body and surrounding myself with the natural beauty God created. Every arrangement is an opportunity to celebrate life, love, and the creativity He has gifted me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, starting a business while navigating chronic illness, autoimmune issues, and past trauma definitely had its challenges. I also went through a period of feeling lost in school and unsure of my path in life, which made it hard to know if I could trust myself to take this leap.
But every struggle has been part of the journey. Learning to balance my health, creativity, and the demands of running a business has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of listening to God’s guidance. Even on the harder days, working with flowers has been healing, they’ve given me joy, a sense of purpose, and a way to express myself creatively, which has made the challenges worth it.

At Sand & Sun Floral, I specialize in creating custom floral arrangements for weddings, events, and special occasions, with a focus on designs that feel natural, elegant, and personal. I love working with a variety of textures, colors, and seasonal blooms to craft arrangements that tell a story and reflect the personalities of the people I’m designing for.
I’m most proud of being able to bring joy and beauty into someone’s life through flowers, whether it’s a bride seeing her wedding bouquet for the first time or someone receiving a meaningful arrangement for a special moment. What sets me apart is my approach: I view flowers as a form of artistic expression and a way to connect with God’s creations. Every arrangement is made thoughtfully, with intention and care, so it feels unique and meaningful. Incorporating flowers with deeper meanings into each of my arrangements.
I’ve found that my designs resonate because they’re not just about following trends, they’re about creating an experience and celebrating the beauty of life in a way that’s personal, heartfelt, and authentic.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is creating beauty and joy in the lives of others while staying true to my own purpose and calling. Flowers have been such a healing and inspiring part of my life, and being able to share that with others is incredibly meaningful. I also value faith, creativity, and freedom, faith guides me in my decisions, creativity allows me to express myself fully, and freedom gives me the space to heal, grow, and live intentionally.
At the heart of everything I do is a desire to celebrate life’s moments, honor God’s creations, and make others feel seen and special through thoughtful, heartfelt floral designs.
