Hidden Gems: Meet Paul of Sit Awhile Rentals LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul.

Hi Paul, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Was just scrolling through Facebook market one day because I was looking for some ideas to start a restaurant or a food truck, At that time the reason why I wanted to open a restaurant or food truck because my mission was always to bring families, friends, and communities together with great food, full bellies and giving people a comfort food to enjoy with people they love. Came across an ad that was just selling inventory of tables, chairs and a website. I really didn’t think about purchasing but did think about purchasing some chairs and tables if I did go the food truck route. Sat on the food truck route for two days and decided to go the food truck route. I reached out to the couple that was selling the chairs and tables. Talked to the lovely couple that was selling and ended up making the decision on getting a little small business loan for the inventory of tables, chairs, website and whatever I needed. Going from the food business to the rental business was a completely 360 (chuckling in my head right now)
Within a week and half got everything registered and the legal side all organized and started renting out equipment.
First year was rough, advertised on Facebook and word of mouth. Had people skeptical on Facebook and had a few instances where people didn’t think I was licensed and I had to prove that I was legit. After that, things started to turn around. It’s been a blessing and have been enjoying this type of work.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, was not a smooth road. Learned things on the go. When it comes to financing inventory (which I did to build up credit), advertising, writing up contracts for liability purposes, certain requirements when working with other businesses.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sit Awhile Rentals LLC is a table, chair and tent rental business. Where we have catered all events. ( Weddings, Baby showers. Gender reveals, birthdays, graduations, backyard events, business events, convention shows)
We are known to cater all events small or big.
What sets us apart is that we communicate effectively and how lienient we are when it comes to our equipment. We are proud of our relationships we have with our clients and want to offer our clients the best service when we first come into contact on phone, email and text messaging.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Have a little contract with replacements with any damages, stolen, cleaning charge.
For delivery, Ask customers if your trailer or truck will have access in and out at the location without being in harms way. I had a couple scenarios where I had to park in the middle lane of the road. (Charge for the inconvenience of your safety). Make sure when delivering your equipment in a building business or house, make sure there’s a convenience of having easy access to delivery equipment and charge accordingly. (Had a couple of incidents that we had to carry chairs and tables at a couple deliveries up a hill and up the stairs of business building .) Charge accordingly.
Always inspect your equipment, things come lose or need some fixing most of the time.
Look at rental programming that they have available and pick things that work out for you and your team.
That’s about it that I have on top of my head.
