An Inspired Chat with Allisyn George of South Jordan

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Allisyn George. Check out our conversation below.

Allisyn, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My son is 2.5 and I love that he is starting to pick up the creative bug. He is a huge reader but finally has found a love for coloring. That has brought me alot of unexpected joy outside of work. I will work on some of my paintings and he will be coloring right next to me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am currently working as a graphic artist. Before covid I worked as a designer for Universal Stuidos but now I am a full time graphic artist and take some things on the side. I am working on trying to figure out a mural business that is almost like a “paint by number” situation where I go in and Design a mural and give the clients the number map and paint and let them experience the fun of painting on a larger scale. I hoping to get this up by next year.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I always believed the whole world was in front of me but after covid and losing myself to the world of motherhood I have lost that thought. I have responsibilities and while the world could be what I make it, its now always within reason.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Failure. Its always hard especially as an artist who is a perfectionist to feel like my work is not actually coming out the way I had planed. Im learning to let go. Some days are easier than others.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Honestly I admire my son. He is fearless. That young energy has taught me to look into myself and go about things differently. Adults tend to overcomplicate things and I am a full people pleaser. He has taught me not to second guess myself and to take things one day at a time, if I mess up, then there is always tomorrow to try again.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Trying my own business sooner I think. While it might not take off right away, I think it will fulfill my soul.
