Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Ashley, the owner of Holistique Beauty Spa!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about all things beauty. I was always the friend doing everyone’s hair and makeup for school dances and weddings. After graduating high school in 2012, I followed that passion into Cosmetology school. A year later, after completing my 2000 required hours, I realized that while I enjoyed beauty, doing hair all day wasn’t where my heart truly was. It was difficult to build a steady clientele, so I took a job with West Jordan City to have financial stability and benefits, continuing to do hair and makeup on the side for friends and family.
Fast forward to 2022—by then, I had a wonderful husband, two dogs, a toddler, and a newborn. After our second baby, my husband and I decided I’d leave my city job to stay home with the kids. While I cherished that time with them, I also struggled mentally with not having a career, as I’d always been someone who loved working and creating.
One day, a close friend told me about an esthetics apprenticeship she had just completed and encouraged me to try it. At first, I was hesitant—worried about childcare, finances, and juggling life with two small kids—but deep down, I felt a spark of excitement and purpose reigniting. After a lot of thought and planning, I decided to go for it. In June 2022, just four months postpartum, I began my Master Esthetician apprenticeship at Simply Skin & Laser. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I absolutely fell in love with the world of skincare and esthetics, and in August 2023, I proudly graduated and passed my state exams.
I started my business as Bare Skin Esthetics, where I spent two years building my clientele, expanding my knowledge, and investing in continuing education. During that time, I discovered professional Korean skincare—and I was instantly hooked! I loved the science behind their formulations, their holistic philosophies, and the incredible results I saw both on myself and my clients. After attending an in-person training for these brands, I felt inspired to take my business to the next level.
That’s when Holistique Beauty Spa was born—a name that reflects my passion for whole-body wellness, skin health, and helping others feel confident in their own skin.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think most business owners can all agree that it is never an easy road. Obstacles come and go all the time. My main obstacle truly has been trying to grow my business while also being the best and most present mom I can be. Between being a police wife, juggling a growing clientele and rotating babysitters, sometimes life feels quite hectic to say the least.
After my son was born, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder called Vitiligo. My immune system attacks the melanin in my body which results in loosing pigment in my skin and hair. Obviously going into the career field of helping people having beautiful clear skin, it was quite a hard pill to swallow. Desperate, I decided to really look into my health and started implementing more holistic practices in the hopes of healing my body from the inside out.
