Today we’d like to introduce you to Mara Bradshaw.
Hi Mara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I never thought accepting a hairstylist position would lead me to salon ownership. Amber saw my potential the day I started and encouraged me to become more. I’ve worked at Amber René Salon for 6 years. Within that time I achieved many personal and professional goals. My husband and I married young, and he encouraged me to continue my education. I am a mother to a 2 year old who is my whole world and am inspired by women who can raise a family and have a career. With the support of my family and Amber, I’ve received my associates degree in business management, got extension certified, acted as assistant manager, became a Kevin.Murphy educator, and built and sustained a clientele as a hairdresser. I am thankful for the opportunities and people who have shaped my success.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggling to support my family while also learning to balance a heavy workload has been difficult. I have big goals for my family and career. Seeing my husband struggle to find a career after graduating with an MBA has put a roadblock in some of our goals. However, surprising blessings have come from a seemingly difficult situation.
We’ve been impressed with Amber René Salon & Spa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are the salon that cares. Amber has set a standard of care for every person who walks through her doors. Every person is treated well.
As employees, we live by the motto that talent has no limits and that a team working together can accomplish much more than an individual working alone. Amber has laid a foundation for women supporting women which is a legacy I plan to carry on.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Communication, teamwork, and kindness.
These skills are free to learn and have everlasting rewards.
