Meet Grace Bithell of Spanish Fork Main Street

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Bithell.

Hi Grace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Peaceful River because I wanted the chance to do therapy my way: I wanted to take as much or as little time as I needed with clients and focus on the issues I felt most passionate about. Treating OCD and PTSD together is still at the beginning stages of research (first papers came out less than 5 years ago) and I love doing it. When I went on maternity leave after having my second daughter I decided I was going for to try and take the time to build the practice I dreamed of. I told myself if I
had 5 clients by the time the 12 weeks were up I could keep going instead of returning to my job and by the time that 12 weeks ended so many people had reached out for therapy that I was almost working full times

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
All things considered I’ve been very lucky. There’s been no big disasters but I started my business with less than $2,000 to make it happen. I had to figure out how to do everything from building a website to starting an LLC from scratch. It’s not an experience I would trade but it was definitely a learning curve.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in therapy for people who have both PTSD and OCD. It’s not often therapists have the training to treat both. It’s expensive and marrying the two things can be counterintuitive.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love close knit culture of Spanish Fork! I hate all the wind. Living at the edge of the canyon gets cold.
