Daily Inspiration: Meet Tracy Gossett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Gossett.

Hi Tracy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My husband, Jon, and I opened Fallen Sky Stone, in November 2021 in historic downtown Tooele. We are a turquoise boutique, with turquoise jewelry, a custom hat bar, boot bar, and women’s western boutique clothing. A few years ago we were reached out to by a bride in San Diego that wanted to see if we could do 100 custom cowboy hats for her guests at the St. Regis Deer Valley. We did and that Wedding went viral on social media getting more than 10 million views. Following that wedding, our phone blew up we were getting requests from across the globe. We quickly decided that we would be willing to do weddings and events from coast to coast. Since that first wedding, we have gone from Glacier National Park all the way south to Fort Worth, Texas and from Las Vegas, Nevada to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida where we have literally done over 10,000 hats. The calls are still coming in and those boundaries are even growing through 2026. Our hat bodies are made for our clients events and needs. They can be fully customized with the bride and grooms name and wedding date on the sweat band, or even your corporate logo. You can choose the style of hat from a flat brim to a cowboy hat with different crowns, etc. in whatever colors you choose. We show up with a team of stylists to the event and capture the crowds attention by lighting the hats on fire, adding hat bands, feathers, vintage matchbooks, and playing cards and finishing up with branding their initials or special characters directly on the hat. It is fun from start finish, and the guests of these events go crazy about their fully customized hats. We get a lot of business from word of mouth. See us at fallenskystone.com

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We were very blessed to have that first wedding go viral and receive as much attention as it did getting us into magazines and different publications. There were no major struggles along the way, but we continue to up our game and get better at each event. We are quicker and better equipped as we learn and grow our business. We are always striving to improve and be the best hat bar for our clients. Being the owners of a small business, we make sure that we are involved from start to finish, ensuring that our customers have the highest level of satisfaction. Currently, we are proud to say that we have all five star reviews, and are friends with each of our brides to this day.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Tracy is a master hat designer. It comes from her years of experience doing everything from working in the floral business, to event planning. She makes certain that every hat is a masterpiece and that the client loves everything about it. Her creativity is off the charts. She is constantly challenging herself and going places no one else has tried. She has been featured on local TV channels 2, 4 and 5. she has been able to style hats for movie producers, country artists, and so much more, but honestly I have seen her take as much time with an 8 year old creating the perfect hat.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Both of us were born and raised on the Wasatch front and Utah has always been our home. We now live on the outskirts of the city in a bedroom community 20 minutes from the airport. Tooele Utah is the fastest growing city in the state. We love that Salt Lake City has everything at its fingertips from shopping to dining to the outdoors. Of course Salt Lake would not be what it is without the people of Utah. They are the most friendly, kind and gifted people you’ll find from coast to coast. This is what made us want to raise our children here and call it home.
