Meet Anne Hart of Bright House Speech

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Hart.

Hi Anne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved working with kids. I taught swim lessons as a teenager and throughout college, so I knew I wanted to go into a profession where I could work with kids. Speech therapy turned out to be the perfect fit! I love being able to see meaningful progress in the kids I work with and helping them to communicate with their families, peers, and community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my own practice definitely hasn’t been easy. It took a lot of researching and planning to do it right. It also can be discouraging when things take longer than you expect them to. But being able to work with families and help them see meaningful progress with their child’s communication is totally worth it!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a speech language pathologist with 5 years of experience doing speech therapy with kids. I specialize in working with autistic kids and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) users. I wanted to start my own practice so I could work 1:1 with families to help their children learn to communicate in whatever way works best for them. I provide in-home therapy because I feel kids learn best in their home environment. My therapy style is neurodiversity-affirming and child-led, which allows for the child’s interests to be at the center of everything we do. Kids learn best through play and things they enjoy, so I want speech therapy to be fun! Learning still happens while having fun!

What matters most to you? Why?
I want families to feel seen. Raising autistic kids is hard. I want to be a support for families on the communication side so there’s one less thing on their plate. I work with families to achieve their goals for their child’s communication.
