Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Davis.
Hi Joshua, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am the Owner and Medical Director of Trilogy Veterinary Medical Center and bring over 16 years of experience in small-animal general practice. I earned my undergraduate degree from Westminster College, where I played collegiate basketball, before completing my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Washington State University in 2009.
Since graduating, I have focused on delivering high-quality, evidence-based veterinary care with an emphasis on thoughtful diagnostics, individualized treatment plans, and long-term patient wellness. Compassionate care and clear communication are central to my approach.
Mentorship is a core passion of mine. I serve as a student program mentor for Washington State University and Utah State University and enjoy supporting veterinary students and new graduates as they build confidence and clinical skills. I also strongly value client education, believing informed pet owners are essential to successful outcomes.
My wife, Jennifer, and I have worked together in veterinary medicine for more than 16 years. Our shared commitment to mentorship, teamwork, and quality medicine led us to create a hospital rooted in integrity, collaboration, and continuous growth.
Outside of work, I enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling, and riding my motorcycle with my wife. We share our home with four cats—especially my Sphynx, Clarice. You may also recognize my voice from local radio station X96, where I help answer pet questions and provide veterinary education to the community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey to opening Trilogy Veterinary Medical Center was rewarding, but not without challenges. From the decision to open a practice to welcoming our first patients, the process took approximately two and a half years and involved navigating complex phases of design, construction, hiring, and launch.
I am grateful that this opportunity came at this stage in my career. The medical insight and leadership experience I bring today is far stronger than it would have been five or ten years ago. That perspective allows me to approach challenges with clarity and intention and will continue to guide our growth as we learn, evolve, and strengthen our hospital together.
We’ve been impressed with Trilogy Veterinary Medical Center of Sandy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Trilogy Veterinary Medical Center of Sandy is a privately owned partnership with a fellow veterinarian who founded the first Trilogy location in Chandler, Arizona. We share a strong commitment to private practice ownership because it allows us to deliver a higher level of personalized care than is often found in large corporate practices.
We are a full-service general veterinary hospital offering comprehensive care, including preventive medicine, diagnostics, surgery, and urgent care. What truly sets us apart is our focus on accessibility and individualized attention. Veterinary care can be difficult to obtain, with many pet owners waiting weeks for appointments. As a new practice, we prioritize timely access—ensuring patients are seen within 24–48 hours—while taking the time to thoroughly address each client’s questions and concerns.
Veterinary care has become very expensive, and we have worked very hard to price our services so that they are competitive and bring value to everyone who walks through the door. Our office visit is $74 and allows us to examine our patients and recommend the best possible care.
Christian Bitton was our real estate agent who helped us find this amazing and beautiful location. He was amazing to work with.
Close family members Mike Morrison and Krystal Yasuda from K&M Concrete were inspirational as successful small business owners themselves.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I have a big passion for my hobbies and pushing my physical limits. I played high school and collegiate basketball here in Utah. I love cycling and have participated in many long-distance rides including the 205-mile Seattle to Portland ride on 5 different occasions. I also participated in the Spartan Race series and completed all 3 distances in one summer.
