Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 1994 I started working as a carpet cleaning technician for a friend while I tried to figure out my next step after years of managing fast food. During that time In 1997 we bought our first van and franchise. My wife and I ran our business from our home this way for multiple years until we couldn’t fit and moved the product and vans to a larger location. But kept a home office. We slowly added franchises and vans and now cover Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah Counties and have 7 vans. We have one multiple best of state awards, Franchise of the Year, Entrepreneur of the year in 2024, and Marketer of the year. Recently best of South Jordan for our google reviews. We have over 2500 5 star google reviews. We take pride in our work we enjoy serving in our community. Especially each fall at the strutt your mutt Best Friends fundraisers.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning your own small business is never a smooth road. Managing home life, employees, and vehicle fleet is always a challenge especially when you do it all. We have kept our staffing small, answering phones ourselves over the years even during vacations. We added a Customer Service rep a few years ago to help us step back a little and give us a break sometimes. Covid years were a struggle going from being booked out three weeks, to no calls at all, and then an influx of customers wanting their homes cleaned and sanitized. Those were challenging but rewarding times.

Along with these services we also can clean area rugs, in your home or at our rug plant where we can focus on the toughest stains and more difficult materials found in high end rugs.
We also offer Leather Cleaning and Restoration. Though leather is extremely durable, evidence of wear is easily noticeable, which is why cleaning and maintenance are so important.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
There are always changes in trends with flooring. We have seen the era of wall to wall carpeting, the trend move to tearing it all out for hard surfaces and rugs, back to carpeting. Qualls Chemdry is always ready for the challenge of the new trends, new fibers being used, and other challenges. We hope our business can continue to grow and that we can continue to help our clients have a cleaner, healthier homes and businesses.
